The History of the Jeep Wrangler Revisited!

The Jeep Wrangler is an important part of Jeep’s heritage and is the epitome of refinement, luxury, and civility. This vehicle is as much a looker as an off-road beast and numerous Limited Edition vehicles have been launched over time to keep its heritage and desirability intact. The Jeep Wrangler Blackhawk, for example, is one such abomination that adds a sinister feel to the already spiked Wrangler.

This huge four wheel drive vehicle is famous on the road and off tarmac, and this can be attributed to a variety of reasons. Jeep was never famous for refinement, comfort, luxury and such other features which defined class. Instead, this American brute promised to take you to remote places where other vehicles wouldn’t dare to tread.

However, over time, Jeep tried to tame the beast and this led to numerous luxury additions to their vehicles. The 2017 variant of the Jeep Wrangler promises to infuse fuel economy to the equation too, along with a manual transmission, which guarantees better performance. We have no word on whether they plan to retain their current-generation body layout and the other technical aspects, although, the company is expected to come up with a formal announcement soon.

The makers have stressed on the fuel economy of the upcoming Wrangler as the present-generation crowd is looking for the thrill of driving while saving the planet. This is a tough benchmark, but Jeep believes that they are up for the challenge. We hope that the makers are looking forward to reducing the weight, and this should have a major effect on the performance and fuel economy in general.

Jeep is also working on an all aluminum body, which should provide the desired effects. The ride height and technical features induce confidence even into the amateur drivers and the variable suspension settings and steering help glide over most surfaces. The engine grunt is what keeps the driver pushing on for more as the 3.6-liter V6 petrol unit displacing 209 kW and 347 Nm of torque begs to be pushed all through the RPM range.

There are times when you could miss a turbocharged diesel unit, but those moments are short-lived. The Jeep Wrangler feels at home on almost any terrain but usually spends most of its time on the tarmac. Jeep has hence focused extensively on making life easier for the driver when on the road.
