Things are reportedly changing behind the scenes of “The Good Wife”, and some of the changes coming have been worrying fans of the show. While so far things have been good and the current season is running without any issues, it sounds like the crew running the production is going to go through some drastic changes at the end of season 7. And while the news immediately got some fans to wonder if we are even going to see another season at this point, there is some reassurance that the show isn’t actually getting cancelled and things will continue after those changes have occurred. Or at least that’s the stance of CBS, reportedly.
What exactly is happening though? According to current reports, Michelle and Robert King, the original showrunners, have decided to step down from their positions once the current season comes to an end. From what we can tell, there are already active talks about how things will be handled after the change of showrunners, and we are not sure what to expect, but we trust that the two are not going to leave their work in the hands of any random people, and they must have some concrete ideas for how they want things to move forward.
Obviously, the biggest question right now is if we’re going to see another season of the show at this point, and this is no longer in the hands of the Kings. CBS seem to value the production quite a lot and they are apparently not going to let it go that easily, so there is a lot of hope that we will see the show continuing. Which, of course, is exactly what fans want to hear right now. But there is the major issue of whether or not the next season will live up to the expectations of fans and deliver the same level of quality when the show is under new leadership. The direction of the plot and character development depend on many people who will still be attached to the production, admittedly, but the high-level overview of things will likely change at least a little.
The main issue at the moment is how fans are going to take the new changes and if they will stick around for the next season. We’ve seen things swing both ways with shows in the past – sometimes a change in leadership and a new outlook on things are exactly what a show needs to get back to the top of its popularity, but in other cases such a move can end in disaster and spell the end of the series as a whole. And without knowing who will take over the production and what they plan on changing, there is no way to be sure that fans will be open to the changes. It’s already a hot topic in the community and fans are quite divided on the issue, so it’s hard to draw any conclusions from there.
So far, things have been moving relatively well in the current season, so things should at least end on a good note before the major changes start rolling in. This is quite important as we’ve seen in the past – if fans are made sufficiently excited by the anticipation for the next season (which is not hard to do with a good cliffhanger), they might be willing to overlook some of the issues that the new episodes have and focus on the positive.
