Versatile and talented as he is, actor Kevin Bacon is one of those Hollywood stars who always has an acting assignment one after the other because the producers dig him, both on the small screen and the big screen.
Apart from a very good actor, he is also easy to deal with and he has played a whole lot of roles in his checkered career as an actor that he can actually do any role that he takes on with great ease.
He was the lead star of the American suspense thriller drama TV series “The Following” when it was still airing on Fox until its third season and the network never bothered on renewing it for a fourth season. Bacon played the role of FBI Agent Matt Hardy on the TV series who has gone out to get serial killer Joe Carroll, played by James Purefoy, details the Vine Report.
Subsequently, Kevin Bacon got another acting assignment in the film, “Patriots Day” after his stint ended in “The Following” where he took on the role of another FBI agent as well.
To reinforce how well he plays as an FBI agent, Kevin Bacon was taken in to star in the Boston Marathon bombing movie “Patriots Day,” which was confirmed by producers CBS Films and Lionsgate Films last March.
The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, and Kevin Bacon. It is to be directed by Peter Berg from a script by Matt Charman.
“Patriots Day” is scheduled to hit global theaters on December 21, 2016 and follows the events leading up to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, which includes the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists behind the grisly massacre.
Kevin Bacon shall play the role of FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers who worked tirelessly as one of the key figures in the very sophisticated and complicated investigation.
Director Peter Berg said that Kevin Bacon possesses the intelligence and empathy to portray DesLauriers in “Patriots Day.”
Back on television
This year, Kevin Bacon returned to TV with the premiere of the 10-episode miniseries “Tremors” which made its debut on Syfy on August 25 and is about to air its finale soon.
It was the actor who kicked off the “Tremors” franchise as the lead character in the first film shown in theaters some 26 years ago.
In an interview after he has been confirmed for the “Tremors” TV miniseries, Kevin Bacon said that he never thought that he would see himself playing the role of giant worm slayer Valentine McKee again.
After starring in the first movie, Kevin Bacon no longer appeared in any of its four sequels, the last of which is entitled “Tremors 5: Bloodlines” which just came out last year. It should be noted that all four sequels were direct-to-video releases and did not enjoy theater run as much as the first movie did.
He is also coming to the miniseries as one of the executive producers in order to be able to share his ideas on the popular action-suspense franchise that he himself contributed in creating.
Will be again on TV next year
After the “Tremors” mini-series, Kevin Bacon shall again be on TV next year with the made-for-television movie “Story of a Girl” to air on Lifetime.
The movie is also the directorial debut of Bacon’s wife, actress Kyra Sedgwick, and she tweeted on October 9 that filming for the movie is already a wrap. Her post was also re-tweeted by her husband.
The movie was filmed in Vancouver, Canada and shall have its 2017 debut on the Lifetime network following the film’s festival run.
