Because it would remove the one thing that’s actually attracting any people successfully right now. Other than those quirks, the show doesn’t actually have that many features that could draw in a lot of people, but of course that could be the whole point of changing its premise.
We don’t know if the producers could be considering a revision of the premise/setup of “The Following” as a last-resort measure to get the show back on air, but some fans are apparently hoping that this isn’t the case. At this point, it’s true that this might be the only thing that can keep the production alive, but as we said above, it could also do the exact opposite and spell disaster for its future.
It remains to be seen whether or not “The Following” will have a fourth season, but at this point fans have been getting more and more skeptical of the possibility themselves.
With the petition fading away as well, the last hope for most people to see the show returning on air has been dying as well. At least, it would be good if another network would get inspired by the production style and unique ideas and pick up something similar with their own special twist, but we don’t know if that would ever happen anytime soon.
