‘The Following’ Actor Kevin Gets Really Busy When TV Series Was Not Renewed for Season 4!

The mark of a great actor is the amount of work he is doing because producers and directors take notice of how good he or she is in acting regardless of whether that is on the big screen or on the small screen.

Kevin Bacon, the erstwhile lead star of the American thriller drama TV series “The Following” on Fox, is one of those actors who seem to never run out of TV or film assignments.

Regardless of the roles he plays, Bacon takes on just about anything that comes his way for as long as he can exhibit his acting skills, which is the reason why he is one of the busiest and most durable actors in Hollywood these days.

There have been recent reports that the “Tremors” franchise that had been out for nearly two decades, will be revived soon and that Kevin Bacon is being considered to reprise his role in the first movie, which is yet again a testament to his durability and acting prowess.

Comparing his latest films

Just recently, an indie thriller movie featuring Kevin Bacon was also released. Entitled “Cop Car,” the film is about a corrupt cop and a couple of punk kids, notes Lainey Gossip.

Critics have described the movie as really tight and intense and it does not go in the direction that viewers think it would go, making it really very atmospheric and effective. The movie can now be streamed on Amazon Video or be rented on iTunes.

Although, not a big-budget movie, “Cop Car” is better in a lot of ways than Kevin Bacon’s new horror movie called “The Darkness.”

Critics think that “Cop Car” is superior to “The Darkness” that viewers are better off watching the thriller film than the supposed horror movie.

While “The Darkness” is being directed by Greg McLean, who chalked up a good horror film entitled “Wolf Creek” not too long ago, his abilities in his previous horror movie seem to have departed him in “The Darkness” because it can no longer be found at all in the new Kevin Bacon starrer.

Okay with a mini-series

Immediately after “The Following” was cancelled by Fox after its Season 3 finale in May last year, fans and viewers of the show started a petition at Change.org to push for the rescue of the show in another network or possibly a streaming service.

In the petition, fans admitted that they were sure that the show will not be coming back on Fox and that they were actually pushing that the show makes it to Netflix instead the way the streaming service has rescued other cancelled TV series including “Arrested Development,” “The Killing,” “Longmire” and a couple more shows.

However, the viewers were also not pushing for a full fourth season of “The Following” as they shall apparently be contented with a semi-Season 4 or a mini-series.

They cited that an awesome title like “The Following Reborn” really sounds great and they will be more than happy to have six hour-long episodes on a cool little mini-series so that the showrunners can give the show a satisfying conclusion.

The petitioners asked fans and viewers of “The Following” to sign the petition and share it on Twitter and Facebook.

Unfortunately, up until this day, the petition did not even generate enough numbers for any network or Netflix to show interest in rescuing the show from cancellation.

Season 4 of “The Following” has long been cancelled by the Fox network but its lead star, Kevin Bacon, has already landed two FBI agent roles in two movies since, including an upcoming one about the 2013 Boston Massacre, titled “Patriots Day.”

The “Footloose” actor has played the role of FBI agent Ryan Hardy during the three seasons on the air of “The Following.” While Season 3 ended with a huge cliffhanger, the show was not fortunate enough to receive a renewal order from Fox for a fourth season.

Some of the avid fans of the show were simply not convinced that “The Following” had to go down without a fight.
