Kevin Bacon is busy as a bee these days with plenty of acting assignments, mostly on films, after the American psychological thriller drama TV series “The Following” ended on Fox last year with a major cliffhanger during the Season 3 finale.
It seems certain at this point that “The Following” shall no longer have a fourth season or would it ever be resurrected from cancellation despite previous online petitions to ask Fox to reconsider its decision.
But Kevin Bacon appears to be unmindful of the cancellation of the TV series since immediately after “The Following” was canceled, he got several acting assignments on films.
Interestingly, Bacon played the role of an FBI agent hunting down mobster White Bulger in his subsequent movie entitled “Black Mass,” which indicated that the producers got him for the project because of his similar role in “The Following” playing as FBI agent Matt Hardy.
Incidentally, to reinforce how well he plays as an FBI agent, Kevin Bacon was once again taken in to star in the Boston Marathon bombing movie “Patriots Day,” which was confirmed by producers CBS Films and Lionsgate Films last March.
The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, and Bacon. It is to be directed by Peter Berg from a script by Matt Charman.
“Patriots Day” is scheduled to hit global theaters on December 21, 2016 and follows the events leading up to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, which includes the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists behind the grisly massacre

Kevin Bacon has been confirmed to star also in a new film entitled “Story of a Girl” which is to become the directorial debut of his wife, Kyra Sedgwick.
The movie is set to have its filming in Vancouver, Canada and shall have its 2017 debut on the Lifetime network following the film’s festival run, reports Deadline.
“Story of a Girl” is a powerful coming-of-age story about a teen who must deal with the ramifications of a sex video that goes viral. When a sex video of a 13-year-old Deanna Lambert and Tommy, her older brother’s best friend, hits the internet, her life of carefree innocence is changed forever.
After three years, Deanna continues to deal with the impact of the video, including being branded in the school as a slut and bearing the burden of the daily taunts, from her classmates.
At home, her life is even more difficult as his father’s anger and disappointment over the incident has left him unable to look into his daughter’s eye. Deanna has since been longing to escape a life defined by the mistakes of her past.
Kyra Sedgwick was chosen to direct the film as part of Lifetime’s Broad Focus initiative to provide women with more opportunities to write, direct, and produce content for the network.
A versatile and talented actor
Talk about versatility and Hollywood veteran actor Kevin Bacon simply has it in him. After the cancellation of “The Following” on Fox in May of last year, things have never been so busy with Kevin Bacon in terms of acting assignments, both on films and on TV.
As if those were not enough, it also gave him more than enough time to be active on the music scene with his brother Michael with their acoustic duo known as the Bacon Brothers.
Kevin and Michael have been in the music scene since 1995 but they only do gigs sparingly because of Kevin’s hectic film schedules.
The Bacon Brothers were very active in the music scene until 2011, although they were able to release a disco track in 2014 entitled “36 cents.”
With the cancellation last year of “The Following” after its Season 3 finale, Kevin Bacon was able to get more than enough time to reactivate his working band with his brother Michael.
Their first mainstream re-appearance on national TV happened late last year when they appeared in a commercial to promote the importance of having eggs for breakfast.
Since then, the Bacon Brothers have been on a roll. In fact, their road shows and concert tours are all over the Twitter page of Kevin Bacon. In fact, last month, the actor was teasing of free tickets to their concert in different cities in the US.
