The Flash Season 3 to Feature Tom Cavanagh as Another Version of Zoom, Speculations Suggest

Tom Cavanagh is one of the key characters of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” on The CW.

In Season 1, he was Eobard Thawne disguised as Dr. Harrison Wells. He was the alter ego of the Reverse-Flash, whom The Flash put away for good towards the series finale.

But Tom Cavanagh, who played the disguising villain character in Season 1, was such a good actor and very convincing anti-hero that in Season 2 of “The Flash,” he showed up as Harry Wells from Earth-2.

Unlike his Season 1 character, Tom Cavanagh’s Season 2 identity was one of the good guys. Fans eventually learned that it was Jay Garrick, alias Zoom, who turned out to be the big bad in the second season of “The Flash.”

With the recent wrap up of Season 2 of “The Flash” where the Scarlet Speedster put away Zoom for good, reports are swirling that Tom Cavanagh will once again return in Season 3 no longer as Harry Wells, but actually Zoom from another Earth.

The actor recently posted an image of Zoom on his Instagram account and captioning the photo with ‘looking for work’ and also included hashtags for The Flash and Zoom, reports Cosmic Booknews.

Major repercussions

The shocking ending of the Season 2 finale of “The Flash” is expected to have major repercussions for the Season 3 of the TV series.

In fact, most fans of the show believe that Season 3 of “The Flash” will kick off with a certain pivotal comic book storyline.

During the concluding episode of Season 2 of “The Flash,” Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, traveled back in time to save the life of his mother. However, his trip created a time paradox where everything that has happened in Season 1 was erased, leading fans to believe that the superhero series will start on a new slate and adapt DC Comic’s Flashpoint storyline, details Blastr.

Actor Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon in “The Flash,” practically confirmed the rumors when he said during a recent interview that there is every chance of the “Flashpoint” paradox will happen in the TV series.

He explained that while some people are having reservations about that, some people think it’s a good idea. Valdes said that wherever the show goes from the Season 2 finale, it is going to be unique and it is going to be different because it is going to honor the original chronology and the original lore while putting a new spin on it.

He said that it’s the same kind of spirit that allowed “The Flash” and other TV shows based on DC Comics to do well as they do on the small screen. He then asked fans to just trust and have faith in the showrunners and writers of “The Flash.”

A comic book miniseries

“Flashpoint” was actually a five-issue comic book miniseries released in 2011 and written by Geoff Johns.

The storyline was composed of 61 issues that crossed over with “Booster Gold” and resulted to several more miniseries and one-shots, even as the main miniseries spanned over five issues.

In the story, Barry Allen wakes up to an alternate world where he has no powers, his mother never died, and there are twisted versions of the superheroes he has come to know and appreciate.

In that world, the world was on the verge of complete destruction when Aquaman and Wonder Woman battle each other by pitting the Atlanteans with the Amazons and the humans trapped in between.

Barry takes it upon himself to stop everything and discover what alterations were made in the past that have created the dark world of the present.

  1. IF THEY ARE GOING WITH ANOTHER SUPER SPEEDSTER VERSION OF REVERSE/ZOOM THEN I AM OUT AFTER 2 SEASONS. FLASH HAS SUCH A RICH VARIED ROGUES GALLERY THAT IT IS BORING TO ME TO SEE VARIATIONS OF ZOOM REVERSE FLASH EVERY SEASON. I FAST FORWADED THROUGH MOST OF THE END OF SEASON 2 AS I FOUND IT TOO SIMILAR TO SEASON 1 THE INVINCIBLE OTHER WORLD SPEEDSTER STOE=RY
