Season 3 of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” will premiere on The CW on October 4 and based on the official images released by the network on July 13, there will be new additions to the speedster club in the hit show.
The images showed Keiynan Lonsdale, who played Wally West in Season 2 of “The Flash,” apparently suiting up as Kid Flash in the upcoming third season consistent with what was written in The Flash comic books.
The young actor was shown in his new speedster costume while filming some scenes in downtown Vancouver, Canada alongside Grant Gustin, who plays Barry Allen a.k.a The Flash, reports Design & Trend.
There is also one interesting character in the images and it seems like Zoom but looks a bit different. The character seems like The Flash but instead of wearing a crimson-colored suit, it is wearing a black costume.
The possible origin of the Black Flash
Thus, speculations have started going around that the character is reportedly the Black Flash. Some other reports are saying that it is the Black Racer.
Both the network and the producers have yet to make an official announcement or statement as to the name of the black speedster
It could be recalled that when The Flash attempted to stop Zoom, played by Teddy Sears, in Season 2 from destroying the multiverse, so he spawned a time remnant of himself, which attracted Time Wraiths. One of the effects may have turned Zoom into the Black Flash, details the International Business Times of Australia.
The Black Flash in the comics is a Grim Reaper for speedsters, who send them back to Speed Force when they die. The character is more of a personification of Death than another enemy that seeks to destroy Central City.
Another thing that has been revealed about the Black Flash is that the actor who shall be taking on the role is no other than Todd Lasance, who once played the role of Julian in the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” also on The CW.
The 31-year-old Australian actor also appeared on “Spartacus” on Starz as well as in a number of Australian TV series including “Bike Wars: Brothers in Arms,” “Crownies,” “Rescue: Special Ops,” “Cloudstreet,” and “Home and Away.”
Flashpoint storyline
It is always cheaper to do it in the comic books than in an actual live filming for a TV series. In addition to the actors needed to recreate the scenes or the storylines in the comic books, much of the work is in the logistics because a lot of things have to be considered.
There have been reports following the conclusion of the second season of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” in May saying that the show would most likely feature the Flashpoint storyline in its upcoming third season.
Flashpoint was actually a five-issue comic book miniseries released in 2011 and written by Geoff Johns.
The storyline was composed of 61 issues that crossed over with “Booster Gold” and resulted to several more miniseries and one-shots, even as the main miniseries spanned over five issues.
In the story, Barry Allen wakes up to an alternate world where he has no powers, his mother never died, and there are twisted versions of the superheroes he has come to know and appreciate.
In that world, the earth was on the verge of complete destruction when Aquaman and Wonder Woman battle each other by pitting the Atlanteans with the Amazons and the humans trapped in between.
Barry takes it upon himself to stop everything and discover what alteration was made in the past that has created the dark world of the present.
He needs to restore back his powers in order to travel back in time to undo the drastic changes that happened. It turned out that one of the main reasons is because Barry saved his mother from dying and the resulting dark side of the world emanated from it.
