Less than a month before its premiere, The CW has released another trailer for the upcoming Season 3 of “The Flash.”
The newest clip is basically an extended version of the previous ‘Time Strikes Back’ trailer and introduces the Flashpoint concept.
Last season, Barry broke the rules when he traveled back in time to save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse Flash and his dad from being sent to jail.
Now that he has both of his parents alive, he also created an alternate reality where everything has changed, and most importantly no one knows how to bring it back the way it was.
The new season will have a massive change with Barry’s relationship with the people in Central City. It has yet to be known what effect Flashpoint has on his alter ego. But judging by the trailer, it looks like the Scarlet Speedster has a lot in store for him.
The Season 3 premiere, aptly titled “Flashpoint” will pick up three months after the Season 2 finale, which means Barry already had some time to contemplate on what he has done.
The latest trailer opens with Grant Gustin’s Barry entering a coffee shop with his dad and asks what year it is.
Barry attempts to explain how he went back in time and created an entirely new existence to another version of Cisco, who doesn’t even remember him in the first place.
It then cuts to a quick glimpse of the season’s new big bad, Dr. Alchemy. The character will debut on the upcoming season and will be voiced by Tobin Bell.
The trailer also gives fans a sneak peek of Wally West’s Kid Flash. Apparently, Kieynan Lonsdale’s speedster is what is known as the superhero in the Flashpoint universe.
Lonsdale says that his speedster and Barry’s speedster share a lot in common. What he’s done to differentiate them from one another is he’s given Kid Flash a light and young approach.
Hope appears for Barry in Candice Patton’s Iris West. It seems that his best friend will remember that she and Barry are something more.
In the new timeline, Barry and Iris won’t be as close as they were in previous seasons since Barry did not grow up in Joe’s home anymore. However, he still holds on to their heartfelt conversation during the Season 2 finale and is certain that he and Iris will end up together.
It looks like Iris might help Barry fix the trouble he’d done to ‘The Flash’ universe while Cisco might help him with the tech side of things.
Aside from the Flashpoint universe being introduced, the third season will also introduce a new villain called the Mirror Master.
The villain exists in the comic books, but it looks like TV version will undergo some major changes. According to Cinema Blend, the Mirror Master will be without his iconic weapon when he steps in Central City.
Speaking to TV Line, executive producer Todd Helbing says that the Mirror Master, played by Grey Damon, will debut in the fourth episode of Season 3 of “The Flash.”
Helbing teases that the villain will be introduced without his mirror gun because it will be too much for Barry to handle all that is happening in his life right now.
It is expected that Damon’s character will just be lurking in Central City and will be observing how The Flash and his crew work.
Helbing says that with a lot of things going on, introducing the Mirror Man as another big bad will be too much for the viewers to digest. Mirror Man is expected to make things tricky for S.T.A.R. Labs
Despite this, comic book fans will know that Mirror Man is already destructive without his gun. The guy can already move through reflective surfaces to get from one place to another. He can also create holograms and make himself invisible using his mirror skills.
