The Flash Season 3 Episode 3 Takes a Break from the Flashpoint Storyline as Team Flash Deals with Metahuman Magenta, More Information!

The third episode of Season 3 of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” that aired on The CW on October 18 took a break from the Flashpoint storyline of the first two episodes which was a welcome relief to fans.

While it may have looked like a filler as it basically just reiterated Doctor Alchemy’s scheme of operation, it was nonetheless refreshing as the TV series brought back Harrison Wells and his newly empowered daughter Jesse.

News about the new speedster in town has Harry on edge, to the point that he repeatedly begs Team Flash members to talk his little girl out of wanting the hero life, details TV Line.

Wally West, on the other hand, is perturbed that his own brush with dark matter didn’t land him in the fast lane, which also disturbs his father Joe.

Upon learning how Jesse on Earth-2 jump-started her powers one day, Wally goes so far as to put himself in harm’s way, only to have Jesse save him from becoming pavement pizza.

The episode also saw a new metahuman wreaking havoc in Central City in Magenta, also known as Frankie, the foster daughter of the abusive John Kane.

It was actually because of the urging of Doctor Alchemy that Frankie used her powers of being able to manipulate metal against her foster dad and also to destroy the city but Team Flash came to the rescue to save Magenta and scare Doctor Alchemy away again.

Towards the close of the episode, Wally seemed to have accepted his non-speedster status while Harry was able to deliver a pep talk with her daughter about how to become a hero in her own way without putting herself in harm’s way. Harry eventually gave her with two speedster suits courtesy of Cisco and Caitlin.

First date for Barry and Iris

Episode 3 also featured for the first time the attempts of Barry and Iris to date as a romantic couple.

While things warmed up, the non-Flash talk simply bored them. But once Barry decided that they need to accept who they are now versus before, and let Flash-iness filter into their love life, the date seemed to have turned more exciting.

Their first date, which takes place at an expensive restaurant, is awkward and boring at first alright. Critics feel that the showrunners and writers did well in making sure that the first date of Barry and Iris was not perfect because that would not have felt earned or believable.

The date represents a big change in the Facebook relationship status of both Barry and Iris, so there should be some bumps in the road. Furthermore, every romantic moment they’ve shared so far has been rather chaste, so it is quite understandable if there are not enough sparks just yet, notes Entertainment Weekly.

Their first date ended when Team Flash summoned them back at STAR labs to attend to another meta-human problem in Central City.

A variety of parallels

The third episode of Season 3 of “The Flash” sets up a variety of parallels which made viewers feel that there might be too much going on.

The show obviously wants viewers to compare Harry trying to convince his daughter Jesse not to fight crime with Joe trying to tell Wally he doesn’t need powers to help people.

At one point, Wally tries to activate his powers by jumping in the middle of the street but that doesn’t work. He got the idea from Jesse herself because that’s how she got her powers.

Luckily for Wally, Jesse is there to save him before something bad happens. Both Harry and Joe are having a hard time getting through to their kids, no matter how hard they try.

This leads to some nice commiserating between Barry and Harry, who found out about Barry’s time-traveling shenanigans and spends half of his visit scolding Barry for his stupidity.
