The mid-season finale episode of “The Flash” entitled “The Present” left viewers with a shocking hint of the inevitable death of Iris West when Barry Allen accidentally jumped into the future again after throwing the Philosopher Stone Box to the speed force.
The last scene of episode 9 showed Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, anxiously worrying about Iris’ life after witnessing his future self who got lost and was unable to save the future Iris West, played by Candice Patton, from Savitar’s hands,
However, it seems like the fastest man alive may have thought that he is not yet fast enough in the future to save the one closest to his heart against the obnoxious speedster villain, Savitar.
That big change from the future manifested Barry Allen’s realizations on Gideon’s 2024 newspaper where the name of the by-line is not Iris West-Allen anymore and that Savitar will soon escape from the speed force and take revenge by taking the lives of the ones closest to Barry Allen.
Viewers saw Barry Allen surprised Iris West with his Christmas present for her. It was an empty yet tidy apartment where he said that it will be their new home together as a couple.
Startled by what she saw and heard, Iris did not finish Barry’s long speech to her as she immediately grabbed Barry’s neck and gave him a steamy yet romantic kiss.
While it seems romantic for the fans to see Barry Allen and Iris West living together as a couple, other theories still say that the move was a little too fast for the couple who had dated for just a few weeks only.
Probably, this may be Barry Allen’s strategy to keep Iris safe from her grim fate in the future even without revealing the truth to her.
Advised not to take risks
Initially, Jay Garrick already advised Barry Allen to never take any risks of altering the future because there is a possibility that other events might be affected which may hinder the actual future events to happen.
But it seems like Barry Allen is still determined to do whatever it takes to save the love of his life from the elusive speedster villain.
A new promo for episode 10 entitled, “Borrowing Problems,” has been recently released and showed a peak of the forthcoming events that will soon reveal the fate of one of the favorite TV main characters of the hit The CW superhero series.
The upcoming episode will show how Barry has come with a huge decision to deal and change the future a few months from the present timeline.
One of the anticipated scenes from the upcoming episode is Iris’ sensible gut feeling that there is something Barry is not telling her based on his fidgety behavior, which left her confused until she finally decided to confront Barry and asked about it.
Concerned about what Iris will think about him, Barry Allen then revealed the truth on what is currently bothering him.
Telling the truth to Iris
Barry Allen then tells Iris the truth while both of them are inside the hidden lure which was previously owned by Eobard Thawne, also known as the Reverse Flash. Back in the first season, Eobard Thawne took over the body of Dr. Harrison Wells in the first season of the hit The CW superhero TV series.
While Savitar’s identity remains a mystery, Barry Allen is clearly focusing himself first on how he can alter the future six months from the present time he is in.
As seen in the new promo, Barry unwaveringly asks help from his friends to travel to the future. Cisco Ramon, played by Carlos Valdez, and Caitlin Snow, played by Danielle Panabaker, agreed to the idea of saving Iris’ life in the future.
