Season 1 of the American superhero TV series “The Flash” saw Barry Allen’s The Flash going up against Reverse-Flash, his deadliest enemy from the future.
The villain’s alter ego Eobard Thawne pretended to be Barry’s friend during the most part of the first season in order to help him return to his own time period in the future. Their rivalry would happen again most likely but given that Reverse-Flash is from the future, he is definitely an overmatch against The Flash.
The good news is that Barry Allen will have in his company other speedsters when Season 2 unravels on The CW on October 6.
Executive producer Gabrielle Stanton disclosed that the new speedster heroes to be introduced in the second season of “The Flash” won’t take away the spotlight on Barry but will showcase to the viewers the different interpretation of DC’s most famous speedsters alongside the main Scalet Speedster, who is The Flash, details Cinema Blend.
Stanton said that they did not want Barry to be lonely so they brought in some friends along the way, but it will still remain his journey. The other speedster will just show people the different ways that the Flash can be.
Metahumans coming out
It can be recalled that Barry’s beginnings on crime fighting emanates from his unfortunate past. After witnessing his mother’s supernatural murder and his father’s wrongful conviction for the crime, Barry Allen is taken in by Detective Joe West and his family.
Allen becomes a brilliant but socially awkward crime scene investigator for the Central City Police Department. His obsession with his tragic past causes him to become an outcast among his peers.
Some 14 years after his mother’s death, an advanced particle accelerator malfunctions during its public unveiling, bathing the city center with a previously unknown form of radiation and creating a severe thunderstorm. Allen is struck by lightning from the storm and doused with chemicals in his lab.
Awakening after a nine-month coma, Allen discovers that he has the ability to move at superhuman speeds. He soon discovered that he is not the only one who was changed by the radiation, known as metahumans. He also vowed to protect Central City from the escalating violence of metahuman criminals. The Flash is being aided with a few close friends and associates who guard his secrets.
It is from these other benevolent metahumans that the other speedsters will arise and show themselves on Season 2 of the “The Flash.”
The upcoming speedsters
Initial reports indicate that Wally West, or Wallace R. West, will be coming to Season 2 and join Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, in his quest to defeat the bad guys. Everyone who is familiar with the story of The Flash knows that West is known among DC Comics enthusiasts as the “Kid Flash.”
Wally West is the man most associated with “The Flash” title for an entire generation. Defined by his quick wit and mischievous nature, he began his superhero career as “Kid Flash,” the sidekick to the silver age “The Flash.” The character shall be played by Keiynan Lonsdale, and it is likely that Kid Flash will be around for much of the show as the actor has been made into a series regular.
Another speedster who is reported to come along in Season 2 is Jay Garrick, played by Teddy Sears, who shall play the more experienced Flash and serve as Barry’s new mentor. There will be other benevolent speedsters that will join Barry Allen in his cause.
However, the other executive producer Greg Berlanti revealed that it will not just be Barry Allen who shall have companions in his team as there will also be a bad speedster running around in Season 2, other than the Reverse-Flash.
