“The Flash” is really living up to its reputation for speed. Apparently, Season 2 of the American superhero TV series “The Flash” will fast forward to six months after the events of the Season 1 finale when the show returns to The CW on October 6.
The time jump was confirmed by Grant Gustin, the actor who plays Barry Allen, the alter ego of The Flash in the TV series.
In a recent interview, Gustin said that Season 2 of “The Flash” will pick up about six months later from the Season 1 finale where the Flash raced to save Central City from an all-consuming and multi-verse breaching black hole, details Comicbook.com
He added that the series will piece together how the storm has affected everyone because it’s not as different as fans would think. Gustin also said that as “The Flash” moves forward, there will be some things in the show that will sure to blow fans’ minds.
Most fans of the show were actually expecting that Season 2 will immediately follow up on the aftermath of the storm threatening to destroy Central City during the Season 1 finale.
The early episodes will provide the answer to the question whether Barry successfully neutralized the singularity in minutes or was he transported six months into the future.
The actor said that fans can look forward to seeing the differences in the new timeline because of the handiwork of Eobard Thawne, who played Reverse-Flash in Season 1, being completely wiped out from existence, notes Cinema Blend.
Photo of Team Flash
There was also a photo that was recently released showing Team Flash encountering some uninvited guest early in Season 2.
Based on the same image, the new white-emblem Flash suit is already on display but the S.T.A.R. Labs main room still looks the same.
Fans could very well remember that “The Flash” featured alternate timelines in Season 1. Speculations have been going around on who the undesirable visitor would be. One of the rumors going around is that it is going to be Atom Smasher, the super-strong and size-changing metahuman that The Flash will go up against during the Season 2 premiere.
More speedsters in Season 2
There have also been previous reports that Barry Allen will have in his company other speedsters when Season 2 unravels on The CW.
Executive producer Gabrielle Stanton disclosed that the new speedster heroes to be introduced in the second season of “The Flash” won’t take away the spotlight on Barry but showcase to the viewers the different interpretation of DC’s most famous speedsters alongside the main Scarlet Speedster, who is The Flash.
Stanton said that they did not want Barry to be lonely so they brought in some friends along the way, but it will still remain his journey. The other speedsters will just show people the different ways that the Flash can be.
It can be recalled that Barry’s beginnings on crime fighting emanates from his unfortunate past. After witnessing his mother’s supernatural murder and his father’s wrongful conviction for the crime, Barry Allen is taken in by Detective Joe West and his family.
Allen becomes a brilliant but socially awkward crime scene investigator for the Central City Police Department. His obsession with his tragic past causes him to become an outcast among his peers.
Some 14 years after his mother’s death, an advanced particle accelerator malfunctions during its public unveiling, bathing the city center with a previously unknown form of radiation and creating a severe thunderstorm. Allen is struck by lightning from the storm and doused with chemicals in his lab.
