In the 18th episode of Season 2 of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” on The CW, Barry Allen played by Grant Gustin, gave up his powers to Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Zoom, played by Teddy Sears, in order to save Wally West, played by Keiynan Lonsdale.
Having left Barry powerless, episode 19, to air on April 26, will feature him as just a regular guy and he will try to go back to his life as a CSI lab assistant before he became the Scarlet Speedster.
However, Harrison Wells, played by Tom Cavanagh, will be kidnapped by a meta-human with super strength named Griffin Grey, played by Haig Sutherland.
Grey shall apparently mistake Harry for Earth-1 Harrison Wells so he will abduct him and demand a cure from him for his current condition. The STAR Labs team has lost its two members after Zoom kidnapped Caitlin Snow and Grey takes Wells.
Barry can no longer do anything about it, having lost his power in the previous episode, but he and Cisco will seek the help of Jesse Wells, played by Violett Beane, to assist them in tracking Griffin’s location.
While Barry still has the suit of The Flash, Cisco said that it can only absorb one of Grey’s punches because anything more would turn him into a piñata. True enough, in the promo trailer for episode 19 of “The Flash,” Grey was shown hitting Barry as he begs him to stop, reports the International Business Times of UK.
Looming showdown
“The Flash” still has four episodes to go before its Season 2 finale slated to air on May 24 but actor Teddy Sears has already hinted of the looming showdown between Zoom and the Scarlet Speedster.
In a recent interview, Sears did not say whether The Flash will get his speed back and take down Zoom but he hinted that the final battle between the two will be mano-a-mano, which could be an allusion that Zoom may also lose his power and it would turn out to be a fistfight.
Sears also said that they have not filmed the final showdown yet but based on the script, it is going to be epic in the truest sense of the word. He also added that it is guaranteed to be fun and very satisfying for the viewers, notes Design & Trend.
The biggest question is how Barry will regain his speed. Unfortunately, the only person who could help him, Harry Wells, will be abducted by a meta-human in the next episode that further complicates thing for the show’s main protagonist.
Incidentally, Sears also shared that Hunter Zolomon will have trouble dealing with his feelings for Caitlin Snow. Hunter apparently developed real feelings for Caitlin the whole time that they have been together from the time that he was still Jay Garrick. And it wasn’t part of his plan to fall for Caitlin, so it puts a bit of an emotional baggage on the main villain of “The Flash.”
Revisiting the time-travel concept
“The Flash” revisited the time-travel concept during its episode 17 that was aired on The CW on March 29. But only this time, Barry made use of time travel to rectify the present, which seems to have gone all wrong.
Entitled “Flash Back,” Barry went back in time for his own purposes to make everything right. He was able to change a few things but the only thing that appears to be altered in the present is Hartley, played by Andy Mientus, already becoming a good guy.
But he had to face a new threat in the Time Wraiths, which are scary looking Dementor things that attack those who abuse the time force. They are the guardians of time.
