‘The Expendables 4’ Likely to Happen Before ‘The Expendabelles,’ Says Randy Couture!

Randy Couture has been part of the cast of characters of “The Expendables” action-ensemble franchise. There has been no update regarding “The Expendables 4” from the previous rumors saying that filming would begin in the fall of this year in China and that it would come out to theaters next year.

Subsequently, there were reports saying that a female group version of the franchise, to be called as “The Expendabelles” is also being considered featuring veteran Hollywood actresses.

There was also a rumor saying that the franchise could spawn a TV series in the near future, which has yet to be confirmed by Sylvester Stallone or anybody related to the production of the film franchise.

The last official statement actually came from Randy Couture a few weeks ago when he said in a recent interview that “The Expendables 4” and “The Expendabelles” are indeed live projects, which means that those movies would happen sooner or later.

The former UFC champion said that he already heard from the production that there is already a script for “The Expendables 4” and that they are indeed going to start shooting in the fall.

He also denied rumors saying that the release date of “The Expendables 4” might be pushed back to allow “The Expendabelles” to come out first. Couture added that “The Expendables 4” is definitely going to hit cinemas ahead of  “The Expendabelles,” notes the Den of Geek.

Darker but full of bloody action

As if to debunk rumors that he will not be part of the fourth movie of the action-ensemble film franchise “The Expendables,” Sylvester Stallone recently came out to confirm previous reports saying that “The Expendables 4” shall have an R rating.

The third movie of the franchise got a PG-13 rating when it came out in 2014, which contributed to its less-than-expected performance at the box office.

However, the main culprit for the disappointing results of “The Expendables 3” in terms of ticket sales is the fact that a pirated version of the movie already leaked online even before it hit the theaters.

The 70-year-old veteran Hollywood action star also said that “The Expendables 4” will be darker and full of bloody action, which is something they were not able to do with a washed down and tamed PG-13 rating for “The Expendables 3.”

Sylvester Stallone is in

The rumors about Sly being out of “The Expendables 4” began following his receipt of the Golden Globes award early this year as Best Supporting Actor for the “Rocky” spin-off movie “Creed,” shown in November last year.

The speculations then were saying that Stallone would rather focus on the development and filming of “Creed 2” rather than concentrate on “The Expendables 4” because he was inspired by his acclaim as Best Supporting Actor. Stallone was also nominated for the same category in the Academy Awards but he did not win the award.

It also did not help the rumors to be clarified when Terry Crews, one of the regular actors of the film series, was subsequently quoted as saying that he would take whatever it is that Stallone would decide on.

He also alluded that if Stallone decides to pursue “Creed 2” than “The Expendables 4,” he would support him for it because he looks up to the veteran action star as his mentor, details Yibada.

In fact, Crews even said that if Stallone decides that he is out of “The Expendables” franchise, he will definitely obey.

Indicative, however, of how trusted he is by Stallone, Terry Crews has been confirmed to play one of the hosts of the reality show “Ultimate Beastmaster” to be aired on Netflix later this year, that is to be produced by the “Rambo” actor.

Incidentally, a report has just come out that Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger had been shopping for cast members of “The Expendables 4” as early as 2014.
