A production like “The Expendables 4” is pretty much guaranteed to be surrounded by lots of rumors, especially when it comes to its casting, as the main premise of the films in the first place was to get as many famous action stars as possible in one place and see them do their magic. And while the franchise started off very strong, more recent installments have been somewhat less successful, and some fans have been wondering what to expect from the latest film once it comes out.
There have been various rumors about “The Expendables 4”, and while it’s hard to figure out where the truth lies right now, at least some of those rumors can be safely disregarded. Sylvester Stallone himself has been talking to his fans from time to time in order to keep them updated on his progress with the film, and the star seems confident that he’s going to recapture the original glory of the franchise and give his fans exactly what they want to see once he releases the new film.
Sadly, he may not be able to get it done exactly how he wanted to originally, as there were reports that some of his casting choices have been unavailable and hew wasn’t able to secure every actor that he was interested in. At the same time, it’s also rumored that he might be taking on some relatively new talent in order to create a more interesting mix of stars in the new film, and it’s possible that we may see some rising action actors showing up in the cast of the new “Expendables”.
The most active recent rumors have been focused on The Rock and Jackie Chan, and both actors are expected to make an appearance in the film at the moment, although Jackie Chan is apparently out of the equation from what we’ve heard on his side. That was a disappointing revelation to many fans of “The Expendables”, but it was also expected to some extent as the actor is quite busy at the moment and he may find it difficult to work “The Expendables 4” into his schedule.
Some are hoping that the actor would still make it work somehow and that we will still get to see him on the screen alongside other fan favorite action actors, but the likelihood of this is becoming slimmer and slimmer by the day, especially with the silence around this issue on the official front.
Other actors which are most certainly not making an appearance in “The Expendables 4” include Manny Pacquiao and Pierce Brosnan. Granted, rumors about the latter weren’t that strong in the first place, but there were some fans of the actor who were hopeful that they would get to see him in “The Expendables 4”, even if it was for a brief role and not as one of the main characters. On the other hand, some fans claimed that they wouldn’t have been happy with such a solution and they want their favorite actor to be given the attention he deserves.
As of now, there is still a lot of conflicting information about “The Expendables 4”, too much to make an informed guess about what the film is going to be like and if it will manage to restore the glory of the franchise and satisfy original fans. There are lots of things that have to be done right in order for this film to work, and hopefully Stallone and the rest of the team are carefully watching over every detail.
