It is no surprise that the 2015 Ford F-150 is going to be an all aluminum design, but what makes this vehicle so special is that fact that what originally started as the brainchild of a handful of designers, quickly became the popular kid on the block with over 1,000 people working tirelessly to create an intricately designed and engineered piece of raw power!
The Ford F-150 is a brute, and the 2015 variant should be no different. Ford conceived the idea back in 2008, and the vehicle has finally crossed over every bridge, to reach the production line today! The 2015 Ford F-150 is more than just another truck! It is the epitome of modern technology developed by Ford.
Many of the original designers and engineers behind the creation of the F-150 have been presented with the honorary Detroit Free Press Automotive Leadership Award for excellence. Chief Engineer Pete Reyes, is the man of the moment, as following his recognition, the management has appointed him as Ford’s Director of Global Commercial Vehicles, effective since January 1st, 2015.
Back in 2008, Ford’s Director of Global Commercial Vehicles, Derrick Kuzak, had asked his designers to think big and think ahead for the future! The team started working on a vision, a vision that we now call the 2015 Ford F-150! A group of six people in the team started looking at other options apart from the conventional steel frame design used in trucks all over the world.
The importance and advantages of an all aluminum design came to mind and tests were made to decipher the structural integrity of a truck designed by using aluminum! Before the F-15o was conceived, Ford’s designers were busy with the next variant of the Taurus. However, back in 2010, a major part of the team was asked to focus on the upcoming F-150 instead.
It was at this time that the designers presented their opinion that the world’s first aluminum truck could be cleared for production. The team worked on the drivetrain, interior comfort and trim levels, electronic components, and the other essentials next. The 2015 Ford F-150 introduces at least 20 new technologies, all of which are slated to make your life easier, when at the wheel.
The upcoming F-150, as a result, is larger, lighter, peppier and more fun to drive than any of its predecessors or competitors in the class. The makers have high hopes pinned on to this vehicle. Although, we are yet to test drive the prototype!
