It will be interesting to see how they handle this indeed, and some fans have also been wondering if they can expect even more remasters for Bethesda’s classic titles.
They certainly have a lot in their portfolio that can work out in this way, even if we only look at the “Elder Scrolls” franchise. “Morrowind” and “Oblivion” are obvious candidates, and there could be a lot of interest from the community if Bethesda were to go back and revisit them in a meaningful way.
However, it’s also worth pointing out that there are some active fan projects for maintaining those games, especially for “Morrowind”, so this could actually be seen as a negative move by the studio, and one that goes against their community.
We’ll have to wait and see how Bethesda choose to handle this. Hopefully though, they aren’t going to resort to making one remaster after another now that they’ve seen it can work. Many people are waiting for an actual sequel to the “Elder Scrolls” franchise, and if things get slower due to Bethesda’s desire to keep revisiting the past, this could eventually backfire for them. They’re still one of the more beloved companies on the market, so hopefully we won’t see them losing their reputation due to such a mistake.
