Still, some have been complaining about the price of the expansion, claiming that at $60, it should offer as much content as one single full new game – and yet some were left slightly underwhelmed once they actually saw what was included.
On the other hand, some have argued that the content in the new DLC is definitely worth $60 or even more, although it will take a while for the average player to experience all of it, which could add to the negative impression that some players have.
In the end, “TES Online” will likely always be surrounded by a dose of controversy and mixed reactions from fans. But the game managed to get some things right and it’s obvious that a proper MMO implementation of “The Elder Scrolls” has the potential to work in the future.
We don’t know if Bethesda are planning to try that with the current game or if they might develop a new one later on, but in both cases the studio should definitely think about the idea of giving the MMO genre another try. The whole world and setting of “The Elder Scrolls” predisposes to that quite nicely, but it has to be implemented properly in order to truly satisfy fans of the franchise. Especially those who’ve been with it for a bit longer and still remember the glory days of the first games.
