When developer Bethesda Studio failed to include the upcoming role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 6” in its lineup for announcement or launching during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held in June, it actually hinted that it would give the floor of the next E3 event to the much-awaited video game.
With that being said, gamers were already anticipating that Bethesda would finally launch “The Elder Scrolls 6” in June next year.
Bethesda launched its post-apocalyptic role-playing game “Fallout 4” at the E3 2015 in June. It came out five months later as “Fallout 4” officially made it to the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC on November 10.
Following the same pattern, gamers expect that Bethesda would also do the same schedule for “The Elder Scrolls 6” next year. It will launch the game at the E3 2016 and roll it out to the gaming platforms and the PC a few months later within the same year.
Push back on the release date
However, there are now reports going around that Bethesda Studios would not be able to come up with “The Elder Scrolls 6” next year because it just developed the multiplayer online version of the game “The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited” this year.
According to Ecumenical News, it has been the pattern of Bethesda Studios to develop a game in “The Elder Scrolls” franchise once every four years.
“The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” came out in 2011. “The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited” came out this year, which means that the next iteration to the franchise will come out by 2019.
Technically, “The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited” is not part of the series as it is basically an online multiplayer version of the game so its development is not as extensive as a full iteration of the franchise, like “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
But everything about the game actually depends on the pronouncement of Bethesda Studios which would likely come next year. Amid rumors about the push back on the release date of “The Elder Scrolls 6” or the other speculations saying that the game would no longer come out, everything is up in the air and only the game developer or game publisher can either confirm or deny those.
Need for a brand new engine
As “The Elder Scrolls 6” is still the subject of speculations whether its development would push through or not, what is clear at this point is that if and when Bethesda Studios decides to develop it, the developer will need to build the game using a brand new engine, notes the Gaming Bolt.
The brand new engine would be vital whether the game will have a robust multiplayer mode or some brand new boss battles.
Using the same creation engine that was utilized for “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” will make the next iteration of the game rather outdated.
Bethesda needs to come up with a new engine to make “The Elder Scrolls 6” really cutting edge. It has to cut the Gamebryo code cord if it really wants to make the new game as good as it can be.
As Pete Hines, Bethesda vice president for marketing, has said, the game development company is not simply known for churning out games year after year because they are not after quantity but quality. The company would certainly not allow a very popular video game franchise like “The Elder Scrolls” to have a next iteration that is half-baked or less than satisfactory to gamers.
Previous reports came out saying that game developer Bethesda Studios will be able to give its focus on the development of the role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 6” after November 10 when it finally releases “Fallout 4” on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC.
