While his generalization do has a leg to stand on, it is possible that Hines was just hiding the fact that their company has nearly forgotten about the video game because it has been focusing all its time and energy on “Fallout 4.”
In a recent interview, Hines explained that it is not in Bethesda’s DNA to release video games on a yearly basis. He pointed out that the company did “Morrowind” in 2002. While they could have done another one right away considering the success of “Morrowind,” they have decided to wait and did a bigger “Oblivion” which was also a success.
Hines said that Bethesda believes in taking the time to do the games right so that when they come out, the games become special and people, particularly fans and gamers, pay attention to them.
He pointed out that one of the reasons why “The Elder Scrolls” video game series are so beloved by gamers is because they are not being released on a yearly basis.
But Hines did admit that seven years of waiting, though attracting, is quite a long time between a video game series and they are not planning to do the same for “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
ES6 is NOT “long-overdue” in the least. I’m sure they are right on schedule, as they always have been. Seriously, the yearly releases some franchises do are just ridiculous. I’ve stopped buying Assassin’s Creed games mainly because there are too many to keep up with.
Also…. PLEASE keep multiplayer AWAY from the Elder Scrolls. Most ES fans do NOT want it. And besides, there’s already a game for that (ESO).
Agreed, not overdue. Oblivion came out in Spring 2006, Skyrim in Fall 2011 (5.5 years later). It has only been 4 years since Skyrim was released, so they have another 1.5 to not be “overdue”. Even the gap between Morrowind and Oblivion was 4 years.
From your lips to Bethesda’s ears. Take as long as you need to completely knock our socks off with a great SINGLE PLAYER game!!!
I’m not against multi-player so long as it is limited to co-op max 4 players. i also would only be okay with it on the condition that it isn’t lore or emersion breaking
