‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ Long Wait for its Release Makes it More Attractive to Gamers, Says Bethesda Exec!

Peter Hines, vice president for press relations and marketing of Bethesda Softworks, may be just be doing an ego-boost to camouflage the growing annoyance and frustration of gamers on their company for the long-delayed announcement and release date of the role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

The Bethesda exec said that the long wait of gamers on “The Elder Scrolls 6” only makes the game more attractive and widely anticipated too.

While his generalization do has a leg to stand on, it is possible that Hines was just hiding the fact that their company has nearly forgotten about the video game because it has been focusing all its time and energy on the post-apocalyptic role-playing game “Fallout 4” which will hit the gaming consoles and the PC on November 10.

In fact, there are reports last month that even after November 10, Bethesda will still give focus to “Fallout 4” because it is planning to give the game new contents through DLCs, which only shattered hopes of anxiously waiting fans and gamers of “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

Not in Bethesda’s DNA

In a recent interview, Hines explained that it is not in Bethesda’s DNA to release video games on a yearly basis. He pointed out that the company did “Morrowind” in 2002. While they could have done another one right away considering the success of “Morrowind,” they have decided to wait and did a bigger “Oblivion” several years later, which was also a success, details Gaming Bolt.

Hines said that Bethesda believes in taking the time to do the games right so that when they come out, the games become special and people, particularly fans and gamers, pay attention to them.

He pointed out that one of the reasons why “The Elder Scrolls” video game series are so beloved by gamers is because they are not being released on a yearly basis.

But Hines did admit that seven years of waiting, though attractive, is quite a long time between video game series and they are not planning to do the same for “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

The last “The Elder Scrolls” game titled “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” was released in 2011 so basing on Hines statement that seven years is being considered by Bethesda as too long, then “The Elder Scrolls 6” needs to come out not later than 2018. This is consistent with the speculations that “The Elder Scrolls 6” could come out either next year or in 2017.

But until Bethesda formally makes an announcement, everything is speculation at this time.

The pessimists say their piece

However, there are also pessimists who believe that Bethesda will no longer be releasing “The Elder Scrolls 6,” notes Venture Capital Post.

They say that Bethesda has been unsure of its declaration with regards to “The Elder Scrolls 6” for the longest time, leaving gamers, fans, and critics to just speculate on their own timeline.

The outlet also averred that while the game has been in wide circulation on the internet for quite some time, Bethesda has not even bother to confirm it during recent gaming events, which only fuelled the pessimists’ rumors that the game will not be coming out at all.

Bethesda said previously that it will be making 2016 the year for “The Elder Scrolls 6” and since the new year is barely three months away, it would be better for gamers and fans to wait it out and see what happens from there.

elder scrolls 6

Many gamers believe that “The Elder Scrolls 6” is long overdue considering that its very successful predecessor, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” was released to the gaming consoles and the PC way back in 2011.

While there are already reports that another developer is already working on “Skyrim 2,” the sequel to “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” Bethesda appears not worried at all, insisting that it publishes games to quality and not to scale.

  1. I am willing to wait as long as it takes. I want the next Elder Scrolls game to be more detailed and bigger than any of the previous games. I sincerely hope Bethesda does not turn Fallout and Elder Scrolls into what Call of Duty has become. They release one every year. One of the biggest reasons Elder Scrolls is so good is because it is a massive, in depth world for gamers to explore. If they released one every one or two years, the level of detail in the games will take a serious hit, which would be very unfortunate. I also hope that it is not a ‘Skyrim 2.’ I think that they need to move on to a different part of Tamriel. Skyrim had it’s turn.
