For example, the combat mechanics in “Fallout 4” received a lot of praise, and they addressed something that has been a major complaint against Bethesda’s games for a very long time now.
While the studio definitely knows how to make a rich, exciting world, their implementation of things like combat, movement and other core elements for a first-person game are often lacking.
In addition, “Fallout 4” introduced some interesting mechanics such as settlement building. This may or may not fit in the world of “The Elder Scrolls”, depending on how it’s implemented, but it could definitely have some potential in the new game.
Last but not least, some fans have been worried that “The Elder Scrolls 6” might arrive with paid mods right off the bat, and that would definitely be a bad move on Bethesda’s part without any prior explanation.
The company already got a lot of criticism for the way they approached the situation with “Skyrim”, and even though they backtracked on their decision and promised to only repeat it after a lot of thought, some fans seem to have lost trust in them. Afterwards, the studio didn’t really make any statements to calm down anyone.
With that in mind, if they’re actually planning to try the idea again in the new game, they should gently introduce their fans to it with some proper communication first. This might even be a good idea before the game is announced at all, as a general discussion with the community about the studio’s future plans.
