‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ Developer Not Interested in Developing a VR Version of the Game, Rumors Say!

Bethesda Studios has already confirmed that the role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 6” will be in development soon but only after the game development company has completed its work on two other big titles.

It is not clear whether the two big titles are something new or sequels of certain franchises in the Bethesda video game stable, notes the Christian Times.

As it is, the rumors are saying that the earliest that “The Elder Scrolls 6” could come out is in 2018 but it shall depend on the release dates of the two big titles before it. If any one or both of those titles get delayed in their release, then “The Elder Scrolls 6” will definitely have a delayed release date too.

There are also speculations saying that it is possible that when the role-playing game comes out in the current or next generation gaming consoles and the PC, it could already have a virtual reality (VR) version as well since the technology will become mainstream by then.

However, while the idea appears quite exciting, there are also rumors saying that Bethesda Studios is not interested in developing a VR version of “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

Special edition for ‘The Elder Scrolls 5’

To sort of quench the gamers’ thirst for the long wait for “The Elder Scrolls 6,” Bethesda Studios shall be releasing “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” Special Edition on October 28.

Reports are saying also that once the special edition of the fifth installment of “The Elder Scrolls” franchise is released late next month, Bethesda shall also kickstart the development of “The Elder Scrolls 6,” cites the Parent Herald.

Bethesda Vice President for Marketing Pete Hines announced during the Gamescom 2016 held last month in Cologne, Germany that the company is working on two big projects, with “The Elder Scrolls 6” being the third.

The report saying that Bethesda is working on two projects has spawned a lot of speculations among the fans. It is anticipated that the company is working on a spin-off of “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” or a huge “Fallout 4” DLC. Either way, fans are elated to know that the company has decided to work on “The Elder Scrolls 6″ already.

It could be recalled that the plotline of “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” occurs 200 years after the events of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.” It is clear from such premise that there is more than enough room to create a spin-off series or even “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

The story of the upcoming game could cover the events that led to the origin of Alduin and the dragons that attacked Skyrim. It might also shed some light on why he is prophesied to destroy the races of Men and Mer.

It is also possible that “The Elder Scrolls 6” may tackle the backstory of the relationships between the Dragonborn and the Blades.

However, all these remain as speculations pending the confirmation or denial from Bethesda Studios.

Some critics are also of the opinion that Bethesda Studios is taking its sweet time in the development of “The Elder Scrolls 6” in order to make sure that it is already 100% perfect when it finally comes out a few years down the line.

Moving the release date further down the line

Incidentally, Bethesda made an announcement during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 about “The Elder Scrolls 6” in June but only to say that it is pushing the launching of the game at a much later date contrary to previous assumptions that it will make it to the gaming consoles this year.

Pete Hines said that the company is fully supportive of the decision of game director Todd Howard to move the release date of “The Elder Scrolls 6” further down the line.

He explained further that Bethesda Studios should not be seen by both gamers and critics as a vending machine, adding that they are not a two-button device that alternated between “The Elder Scrolls” and the “Fallout” franchises.

Hines also added that the intention of Todd Howard and Bethesda Studios is to successfully turn their four latest games into Game of the Year contenders so it would not be different with their thrust for “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
