‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ Could Be One of the Three Big and Crazy Projects that Bethesda is Working On at the Moment, Cite Critics!

The silence of Bethesda Studios regarding updates to its role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 6” has already been deafening that the rumors and murmurs in the gaming community about the highly-anticipated game emanate mostly from gamers and critics.

Although Bethesda has yet to confirm or deny the latest rumors going around the grapevine, reports have it that “The Elder Scrolls 6” shall be launched during the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 to be held in California in June.

The latest round of speculations was pieced together by some critics based on a previous interview with Bethesda game director Todd Howard, notes the Ecumenical News.

In the interview with Howard recently, he spoke about the details of how the development team put so much effort with “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” and “Fallout 4,” as if insinuating that the same amount of work is being poured in by the company on the ongoing development of “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

However, Howard did not specifically say that they are already working on the sixth installment of the very popular video game franchise.

But he did say that the game development company is working on three big and crazy projects and that they are doing so many things with those three games but are long ways off. He added then that fans and gamers should not expect any updates about those anonymous projects anytime soon.

However, some fans and critics believe that “The Elder Scrolls 6” could be one of those three titles in development with Bethesda Studios and that the IP could now be in development. But until Bethesda makes the confirmation or denial, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Already in the works

In a previous interview with Pete Hines, Bethesda vice president for marketing, he confirmed that “The Elder Scrolls 6” is indeed in the works. In fact, there have been rumors then that the sub-title of the game shall be “Skyrim 2” which would be a continuity to the very successful “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” released in 2011.

Prior to the “Skyrim 2” rumors, there were allusions then that the sixth installment of the game shall be based on Morrowind or Oblivion which turned out to be inaccurate.

Back then, Hines said that it is rare to have franchises like the ones they have and to have people joking about when is ‘Skyrim 2’ coming out. He said that they are not the sort of developer and publisher that focuses on the number of video game releases in a year but on the quality of their game releases year in and year out, notes Crossmap.

Hines said that they do smaller stuff and they don’t publish to scale because Bethesda always makes it a point to publish to quality by making sure that everything coming out from their end is noteworthy by every gamer standards.

It was also Hines who said back then that the development team cannot focus yet on the full development of “The Elder Scrolls 6” because they are still busy with working on the DLCs for “Fallout 4.” However, the last DLC has already been completed and released to the game recently which only means that the developer is now focusing on the development of “The Elder Scrolls 6.”

Possible 2017 release

It looks like a 2016 release of “The Elder Scrolls 6” is already out of the question at this point but there seems to be a great possibility that the game may come out on the gaming consoles and the PC next year.

  1. I am pretty sure Skyrim 2 won’t happen. The best bet is a new place. Either Valenwood, Elsweyr or Orsimer.

    1. personally, while I know TES jumps from province to province, I’d like to go back to Cyrodiil and see what it’s like after the great war. Or see it set within the Summerset Isle and – hopefully – the fall of the Aldmeri Dominion. Since, y’know… racial bigotry ain’t nice.

  2. The idea of ‘Skyrim 2’ is completly absurd and will never happen. Bethesda have stated many times that they create ‘new stories and worlds’, meaning they wont make a Skyrim 2. Why would you want to play another game set in this same place? A new province with a new protangonist and story is what Elder Scrolls is about. And since Fallout 4 took around 4-5 years to develop, an Elder Scrolls game is most likely a ver late 2018, early 2019 release minimum
