The Insomniac Games developed Ratchet and Clank is a very familiar name for all the video game lovers. This series of science fiction and action-oriented video game’s latest launch has created a rave in every game lover’s mind. The latest version of the game was launched on April 12, 2016.
And the adventure of the entire ordeal doesn’t stop just at the video game level because the movie version of the video game has been released as well. The movie is a great interpretation of the video game and has been assured to win not only the children’s mind but of the adults as well.
While the children will enjoy anything that has animation included in it, the reviews of the movie claimed that the movie lacked the oomph and the substance in the script. The reviewers further stated that the movie’s script seemed like a first draft with a hit and trial feel to it rather than a finalised and finished product.
The movie revolves around taking the audience through a ride of adventure through the different solar systems and the entire galaxy involving an adorable and colourful cast but looks like that is all that the film has to offer. This movie is debut representation of the game that was released back in 2002.
If anyone is not aware of the video game or has still not seen the movie, a little bit about the storyline has hurt no one. In the movie, Ratchet is the one who portrays the character if a weird cat-alien whose job involves working in a garage, fixing spaceships.
Clank, on the other hand, is a robot who has escaped the factory he was made in that was presently making robots pursue the destruction of the Rangers.
Ratchet’s dream of becoming a super hero like that of the Galactic Rangers and the fulfilment of the same is what the movie focuses on. The journey of how Ratchet and Clank team up after their meeting and forming their clan for saving the galaxy is the pivotal focus of the movie.
The movie’s plotline is based on the game’s outline and is a lot light-hearted and is based off on the relationship of the duo right from their first meeting till the very time that they join the said forces to free the world from the hands of the evil forces.
The snippets of the plot also focus on their escape from their meaningless life to their meeting with Captain Derek who then allots them their new purpose in life.
It has repeatedly been advised to the adults watching the film that it is necessary to forget about the plot and just watch because it might not even make sense a lot of times during the entirety of the movie.
The character development of the pivotal characters has been very much talked down and criticised because they seem to be lacking the depth that was expected in the screening.
The main part of an action thriller and science fiction movie is the appearance of the villain in it and looks like the crew of the movie made the villain keeping the children into account. The villains don’t look scary at all, not even a percent intimidating a bit rather funny looking.
The animation of the movie has been praised about a lot, but some reviews claim that the graphics are nothing but a slight upgradation of the game’s animation. The voice cast of the movie includes famous celebrities like that of Sylvester Stallone, Paul Giamatti, Rosario Dawson and John Goodman.
