The Conjuring 2 Takes the Story to England, Scheduled for 2016 Release!

“The Conjuring” was without doubt one of the more successful film releases of 2013, as the production managed to earn back its budget several times over, and exceeded all expectations regarding its critical reception. It’s no surprise that the studio is already working on a sequel, and it’s currently scheduled for release in 2016 – and according to reports, the new film is going to shake things up a bit in the setting and plot development.

“The Conjuring 2” is reportedly going to move the location of the plot to England during the late 70s. The main plot will revolve around two sisters who have become possessed, with Warren reporting that she has personally seen one levitating, and the other apparently being capable of teleportation. She further went on to say that this has been the most frightening experience in her entire career – it seems that things are going to shake up a bit for the character.

The full name of the new film will be “The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist”. It’s worth noting that the story is based on real-life reports by Margaret Hodgson, a single mother living with her four children who have been haunted by poltergeists over the years.

James Wan will once again take the director’s seat for the new film, while Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will play the roles of Ed and Lorraine Warren, something which was expected ever since the sequel was announced in the first place. At the same time, writers Chad and Carey Hays will return to write the script for the new film, after they were responsible for the original one.

So far, it seems that the studio behind “The Conjuring 2” is doing everything right in terms of building a strong crew and cast that have proven to know how to handle a story of this type successfully. From this point on, all that matters is that Chad and Carey manage to come up with a solid story, while everyone else lives up to the expectations they’ve set with their performance in the first film.

The Conjuring 2 Film

There is half a year until “The Conjuring 2” comes out, and certain details might change until then – but at this point, it’s safe to assume that things like the script, cast and other major elements have been set in stone, so the only details that might end up changing could be minor plot points, the overall visual style (which can change a lot during post-processing), as well as the marketing direction that the new film will have. It’s a little too early to speak about marketing, but it seems that the studio behind the film is already trying to build some hype around it.
