Even when he was betrayed by Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen, played by Megan Boone, during Season 3 of the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” on NBC, Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader, shall be starting his search for the beleaguered FBI agent who has been introduced to his true father Alexander Kirk, played by Ulrich Thomsen.
It would seem that Red would be unmindful of the betrayal on him by Liz and he would try to do everything in his powers to get Liz back.
It could also be recalled that it was not just Red whom Liz deceived during Season 3 of “The Blacklist” but also the Post Office Task Force of the FBI, who shall finally learn that she is actually alive and that her death and funeral were all just a cover-up.
During the final episode of Season 3, Liz resorted to desperate measures to get her daughter Agnes away from Red and escape with her husband Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold, so that they can start a new life in Cuba, details the International Business Times.

Drawing help from Mr. Kaplan, played by Susan Blommaert, she almost managed to pull off the escape from Red if not for her abduction of her biological father Kirk, who also happens to be a nemesis of Red.
Mending their relationship
Because they are the two main stars of the show, the reports are saying that Red should be able to locate Liz and they shall be able to mend their relationship again prior to the arrival of Alexander Kirk into their lives.
However, that cannot be said of Liz’s relationship with the Task Force. This was confirmed by showrunners John Eisendrath and Jon Bokenkamp who disclosed that the members of the secret FBI team will find what Liz did as a huge betrayal.
Eisendrath and Bokenkamp also said that Tom will still be a factor in Season 4 of “The Blacklist” but much of the storyline will focus on Red and Liz and would not have the elements of a domestic drama of a perfect little family, indicating that Tom and Liz would not be able to raise their daughter in a normal setting the way they envisioned it.
Bokenkamp also confirmed that Tom Keen would not be jumping just yet to the spin-off TV series entitled “The Blacklist: Redemption” but will spend several more episodes in the upcoming Season 4 of the parent show.
However, after what they have been through together during the Season 3 of “The Blacklist,” it now becomes clear that what Tom and Liz have in between them is true love.
A costly reunion
There are also reports saying that the reunion of Red and Liz in Season 4 of “The Blacklist,” which shall be returning to NBC on September 22, will be very costly especially for Red, reports the Parent Herald.
While it will be tense at first given Liz’s betrayal of Red, Red will eventually blame the emergence of Alexander Kirk, also known as Constantin Rostov, in the picture for what happened to Liz.
There are also reports on social media saying that despite the rumors that the Post Office Task Force will not forgive Liz for what she did, Liz and Donald Ressler, played by Diego Klattenhoff, shall also jump right back into their old partnership in Season 4 of “The Blacklist.”
In fact, with the impending departure of Tom Keen from the TV series to focus on the spin-off show, there are also speculations saying that the romantic angle could come from the possible relationship development between Liz and Ressler.
However, such is mere fan speculation at this time as neither Eisendrath nor Bokenkamp mentioned of such possibility in the upcoming fourth season of “The Blacklist.”
Last month’s trailer of the upcoming Season 4 of “The Blacklist” imposed the question ‘Who is Liz’s father?’ This implied that Liz Keen shall be working to find out whether Alexander Kirk is indeed his true father as the latter claimed.
In the Season 3 finale of “The Blacklist” aired in May, Kirk told Liz that he is Constantin Rostova, the father she thinks she already killed a long time ago.
It has been said in the series that Liz shot her father dead while defending her domestically-abused mother.
It was also said during the Season 3 finale that Kirk had an agreement with Mr. Kaplan to set up a meeting with Liz so they could have that father-daughter heart-to-heart talk.
However, Liz decided to fake her own death in order to know more about the truth about her family.
It has been said that just like Reddington, Kirk has been looking after his daughter ever since the police followed her for the crime she has nothing to do with.
If and when Liz believes that Kirk is her father, then both of them would turn the tables on Red, who will sort of become the bad guy in their relationship. Liz appears to be favoring Kirk as Red often keeps secrets from her.
In addition to the father-daughter relationship of Kirk and Liz, Season 4 of “The Blacklist” shall also zero in on various other plotlines as well as several shocking revelations.
Executive producer Jon Bonkenkamp confirmed that the fourth season will see Red proving himself to Liz after what happened to their relationship back in Season 3. It is not yet sure, however, if his intentions are really good or he wants to take revenge on Liz for putting one over him.
There are also reports saying that Katerina Rostova, played by Lotte Verbeek, the mother of Liz, shall also be returning in Season 4 of “The Blacklist.”
