After the 18th episode of “The Blacklist” Season 3 that featured the death of Liz Keen, most of the fans were still not convinced the former FBI profiler is already dead. They initially thought that Reddington faked Liz Keen’s death to protect her but after the 19th episode, where Red is shown grieving Liz’s demise, they believed it was not Red who faked it but someone else.
Before the start of Season 3 of “The Blacklist,” Jon Bokenkamp said that the real-life pregnancy of Megan Boone with fiancé Dan Estabrook shall be integrated into the storyline. So Liz got pregnant by Tom and they even got married in episode 16 of Season 3.
Then it was followed by speculations that somebody close to Reddington would be betraying him.
As it is before the Season 3 finale, the only two people who are very close to Reddington are Dembe, played by Hisham Tawfiq, and Mr. Kaplan.
Having Dembe turn against Reddington would be a huge surprise but it seems unlikely because he and Reddington have been through a lot.
But the bet has always been on Mr. Kaplan as she appeared to have that look on her face on episode 18 that she knew what was about to happen to Liz before it actually occurred. The guess is that Mr. Kaplan has a secret plan up her sleeves unbeknown to Red, which eventually turned out right on cue during the Season 3 finale.
