In the last episode, Liz went to Velov, a man who knows something about her mother. However, he doesn’t tell her anything instead asks her to use her FBI sources to track down his daughter who hasn’t been talking to her.
Red apparently knew the man’s daughter and when Liz takes a letter to a surprised Velov’s daughter, she revealed that she and her father aren’t estranged and that the letter was actually for Liz.
She opened the letter and learns of her mother’s fate. Velov was trying to find Katerina and traced her to a hotel in Prague where he found an empty room and Liz’s photo.
Red, in turn, digs up on the secret himself and discovered an enclosed envelope. If something were to happen to him, it was supposed to go to Liz, but instead, he burns it because he doesn’t ever want her to know what it contains.
It is unclear though if Liz has already forgiven Red for lying to her about her mother’s fate but some reports tease that the remaining five episodes will lead Liz to finally know the truth about her mother and why Red decided to keep the truth from her.
The Blacklist will return on April 7 with the remaining five episodes of the season to be shown weekly. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season.
