Red offered to Cooper his knowledge and assistance in the apprehension of criminals in his blacklist on two conditions. The first is immunity from prosecution while the second is that he wants to work exclusively with Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen, a rookie FBI profiler who was assigned to Cooper.

Red said that his blacklist took him a good number of his criminal years to compile and he believes that he and the FBI have a mutual interest in eliminating the people in his blacklist.

Initially, both Keen and Cooper are suspicious of Red’s motives or interest on her. Red will only say that Liz is very special

However, as the series progresses, the mysteries of the lives of Red and Liz, and his interest in her are revealed slowly. The show also uses twists on other characters of the TV series to give the viewers plenty to chew on every episode.
