Season 3 of the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” is in a 42-day hiatus after its suspenseful episode 16 aired on NBC on February 25.
The break may have been caused by some programming glitch in the network and is in no way triggering any speculation that NBC may already be contemplating of making Season 3 of “The Blacklist” as its last.
On the contrary, NBC has already greenlit the fourth season of “The Blacklist” as early as last month so there is no reason at all to be worried that the hit show is on the chopping board. And besides, as one of the most popular and top-rating TV series on the small screen today, it would be foolhardy for NBC to even consider of pulling the plug on “The Blacklist.”
Aside from its heart-pounding episode 16, titled “The Caretaker,” it also offered more hints towards uncovering the mystery between the true relationship of Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader, and Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen, played by Megan Boone.
There was also drama thrown into the mix as Liz expressed her displeasure to Red for not telling her that her mother is still alive. On the other hand, Red continues to insist to Liz that she should not marry Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold, as the guy is a criminal who will never change his ways.
But Liz has already made up her mind. It also goes without saying that she would like to push through with her plan to marry Tom not only because she is currently pregnant with his child but because she wants to get even with Red for lying to her about her mother.
Pulling all stops to halt the wedding
According to reports, episode 17 of “The Blacklist” Season 3 will see Red pulling all stops to prevent the marriage of Tom and Liz from happening.
However, given the stubbornness of Liz, the wedding or, at least, the walk to the altar shall take place indeed.
But it seems that somebody from either Tom or Liz will die or seriously be injured during their wedding day as based on leaked photos, Red and Dembe will be outside the church with their guns all out in pursuit of somebody who had shot either Tom or Liz.
Critics are putting their bet on Tom as the likely casualty because, in episode 16, he has almost been killed by his former girlfriend Gina Zanetakos, played by Margarita Levieva, but still managed to survive.
In the teaser of episode 17 of “The Blacklist” titled “Red Wedding” to air on April 7, Gina Zanetakos was also quoted as saying that she is still not through with Tom.
Some viewers think that the term Red Wedding is an appropriate term for Liz and Tom’s wedding. The promo trailer for the next episode showed Liz Keen in tears towards the end which means that the show might take a distressing turn, cites the Parent Herald.
A heart-to-heart talk
Also during episode 16, Red and Liz had a heart-to-heart talk before Red introduced Liz to a criminal mastermind named Hugo, played by Paul Lazar. This leads to finding the Caretaker, which leads to a long domino effect of problems, which ends up with the two terrorists driving a bomb onto a truck and the German government refusing to assist, details Pop Matters.
Eventually, FBI agents Donald Ressler, played by Diego Klattenhoff, Aram Mojtabai, played by Amir Arison, and Samar Navabi, played by Mozhan Marno, stopped the truck with a bomb on it. They managed to kill the two men in the cab but one of the two men in the truck was holding the trigger to the bomb’s detonator. So when he got shot, it sets off the counter. But the bomb was eventually disarmed.
Over the past couple of episodes, Liz and Tom have been on a tug-of-war on whether to keep their baby or not.
However, towards the end of episode 15 of “The Blacklist,” the couple seems to have reached a mutual decision to keep their baby.
