Over the past couple of episodes of the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” on NBC, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen, played by Megan Boone, and husband Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold, have been on a tug-of-war on whether to keep or not the baby that the former FBI profiler is currently carrying in her womb.
However, towards the end of episode 15 of “The Blacklist” that aired on February 18, the couple seems to have reached a mutual decision to keep their baby.
It also helped that Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader, has promised Liz that she will eventually get the quiet life she has been looking for, notes the International Business Times.
But instead of moving towards the fulfilment of her plans, the upcoming 16th episode of “The Blacklist” titled “The Caretaker” will see the couple going back to square one.
Wants security and comfort
Based on the episode synopsis, Tom is seen to have made a risky decision which will make Liz rethink her decision of keeping the baby and looking for a quiet family life with him. Apparently, Tom’s decision has something to do with his effort to look for Gina Zanetakos, played by Margarita Levieva, to get his share of the money from the past jewelry heist they did. It seems like Tom wants some sort of security and comfort when he and Liz retire to a quiet life.
While Tom gambles on Gina, Red and Liz will be running after a criminal known as The Caretaker after a State Department official is murdered in Beijing in China.
The Caretaker is described as a shadowy keeper who maintains a safety deposit vault for criminals.
The video clip for the upcoming 16th episode of “The Blacklist” showed The Caretaker apparently hiding his information in a cemetery and he starts leaking information about other criminals including something from Red’s past.
The Caretaker is turning out to be similar to Red in his work but he does not collaborate with the authorities and works on his own. He wants the authorities to take care of the criminals so that he can focus on his work all by his lonesome.
The relationship of Red and Liz
During the close of episode 15, Red received a painting from Rostova, the mother of Liz, showing Liz standing by a tombstone with ‘Reddington’ on it.
It seems that Liz’s mother is also hunting for Red and Liz might actually get the answer about her true relationship or connection with Red soon.
The teaser trailer of episode 16 also showed Liz getting upset with Red after she learns new information about him which was leaked by The Caretaker.
Red then told Liz that her mother was not able to handle seeing her daughter shoot her husband years ago. He also explained that Katerina Rostova was last seen walking into the ocean but he did not mention whether she was already dead or still alive. But it seems that Red’s story was a lie and Liz will discover it in the upcoming episode 16.
Episode 15 was another edge-of-your-seat thriller that showed Tom joining a robbery heist with his ex-girlfriend. His intention was simple – take what he can from the heist and get Liz and his child away from all the chaos once and for all, notes the Christian Post.
But apparently, things did not come out as planned as Tom was eventually set-up by Gina for the fall. Towards the end of the episode, armed men soon overwhelmed Tom, leaving his life hanging in the balance.
He was eventually taken to the hospital as he fights for his life. At first, Liz thought that Red was behind the attack on his husband since he was always at odds with Tom in the past.
While Red did not tell exactly to Liz what happened to Tom, he nonetheless made it clear that living a quiet life with him is not a good idea because he believes that Tom is dangerous and reckless too. He also added that Tom is not worthy of being her husband and he is sure, not worthy of raising the child that they share.
