The Blacklist Season 2, Episode 9 to Introduce at Least One New Antagonist? Let’s Find Out

There’s still some time until “The Blacklist” resumes – the show is currently in a mid-season pause, and is expected to return to the screen next year – and it seems that the producers have quite a lot planned for the very first episode that will air after the pause is over, episode 9. The story will be changed up a little bit in order to make way for some new characters, including at least one new villain, and it seems that the second half of season 2 will have a more dramatic, fast-paced storytelling style.

Right before the show went into its mid-season pause, a dramatic event occurred – Berlin died, which put an end to the show’s primary antagonist. This was a bit surprising to most fans, who were expecting to see the character killed off around the end of the season instead. And now, it seems the producers have already planned the replacement for the role of the main villain – the show will introduce none other than Ron Perlman as an international thief who likes to confuse his opponents and thrives in chaotic environments. The actor has been known for his strong portrayals of various characters, and his addition to the cast has resulted in nothing but positive responses.

What’s peculiar about this character, according to a preview given by the producers, is his meticulous planning style, in which he arranges everything a long time in advance, sometimes even years. This will make for a very interesting dynamic for the new episodes of the second season, and it’s rumored that the villain will actually put some plans into motion which he has been preparing before his introduction into the plotline.

Another subplot which was never resolved in the mid-season finale was the mysterious St. Petersburg safe, which Alan Fitch gave the combination for to Red in episode 8. He stated that something will happen in 2017, and the second half of the season might shed more light onto that premonition. It’s not known what the safe contains yet, but there’s a good chance that viewers will be given an answer to that question before season 2 ends.

The Blacklist Season 2

“The Blacklist” has been getting strongly positive reception for the way it approaches its storytelling, and for the overall dynamic nature of its plots. The producers have picked up on those vibes among reviewers and fans, and have decided to make these elements even more prominent for the future episodes – something which has been received with unanimous positivity by fans of the show. The remaining episodes from season 2 could dramatically change the plot, including some of its major elements, and it’s expected that these changes will start right from the beginning, with the launch of episode 9 once 2015 rolls around.
