‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 9 to Mark 200th Episode and to Focus on Sheldon’s Birthday Celebration

“The Big Bang Theory” now belongs to the coveted list of a few TV series that has attained a 200-episode run.

The award-winning sitcom will be marking the show’s 200th episode in Season 9’s episode 17. To celebrate the milestone, the episode, titled “The Celebration Experimentation,” will center on Jim Parson’s Sheldon Cooper.

Christian Today notes that this is the first time in years that his friends will actually throw a party for Sheldon and it’s definitely bound to deliver.

The episode will be an hour-long special and will air on Thursday, February 25, a day before Sheldon’s actual birthday.

As per International Business Times, the episode will pay homage to the series by inviting some old characters back as well as one major guest star.

TV Line reports that Leonard’s mother, Dr. Beverly Hofstadter, played by Christine Baranski, will appear in the episode along with Kevin Sussman as Stuart.

Also attending Sheldon’s birthday is the group’s funny-voiced rival Barry Kripke, played by John Ross Bowie. Will Wheaton will also be coming back to the show as himself.

Sara Gilbert will also return to reprise her role as Leslie Winkle, Leonard’s ex-girlfriend. This is the first time that Leslie will be seen again since the end of Season 3 when Leonard went looking for a rebound after first breaking up with Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco.

It is still unclear how these characters will come back into the fold. Interestingly, CBS is keeping the details of the special episode under wraps as they have not released any official synopsis for the episode.

The only tease the network gave was that the episode will see Sheldon getting an extra surprise when special guest star Adam West joins the celebration.

West is best remembered for being the first man to bring a live-action Caped Crusader to life in the 1966 TV show “Batman.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that West will be playing as himself and will be considered a heroic idol to Sheldon, Johnny Galecki’s Leonard, Simon Helberg’s Howard, and Kunal Nayyar’s Raj for his role as Bruce Wayne.

A promotional photo released by CBS shows the 87-year-old actor partying with the whole gang and everyone looking so thrilled that the veteran actor is bringing the house down.

West has been brought up in the previous episodes of the sitcom. Back in Season 3, Penny revealed to Sheldon that she doesn’t know Adam West, prompting Sheldon to impersonate the acting legend most famous line.

Howard also seems to be a big fan of superheroes as he once dressed up as West’s version of Gotham City’s vigilante back in the show’s fourth season.

Prior to Thursday’s episode, the cast and crew of “The Big Bang Theory” threw a party last Saturday at Vibiana in Los Angeles, California to celebrate the milestone.

Moreover, the city of Pasadena, where the entire nine seasons of the hit comedy series are being filmed, declared that Thursday, February 25, will officially be proclaimed as “The Big Bang Theory Day.”

According to Variety, the evening will be filled with a lot of reminiscing from the actors since the show started way back in 2007.

Cuoco revealed that the first time she talked to Jim Parsons was during their auditions.

The 30-year-old actress details that Jim was holding a Blackberry and he doesn’t actually know how to make it work. From that point on, Kaley said that he would be the perfect Sheldon.

This season has achieved two major goals in the group’s life. Howard and his wife, Bernadette, played by Melissa Rauch, are already expecting a baby while Sheldon and Mayim Bialik’s Amy finally consummated their relationship.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Parsons dished where the characters, especially Sheldon, are headed for this season.
