When the long-running American TV sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” returns to CBS on September 21, it will certainly provide all the answers to the questions that were left hanging during the series finale of Season 8.
In addition to a great amount of focus on the relationship between Amy and Sheldon, latest reports indicate that Season 11 shall also focus on the back story of Amy Farrah Fowler in order for fans to know who she really is and why she acts indifferent to some people occasionally including her erstwhile boyfriend Sheldon.
The two have since broken up in the series finale of Season 8, but fans of the show are overly optimistic that they will get back together again.
According to the Inquisitr, a good number of fans of Sheldon and Amy are speculating that they pair would reunite again in Season 9. During the ComicCon 2015 panel presentation of the cast members and production personnel, showrunner Steven Molaro disclosed that the story of Sheldon and Amy will unfold in the opening episode of Season 9.
It was actually series writer Eric Kaplan who confirmed the focus on Amy’s backstory, revealing that fans may eventually find out that Amy had a great, great uncle who didn’t play by the rules.
Front and center of the show
Breathe Cast confirmed that the story of Sheldon and Amy may become the front and center during the premiere episode of Season 9.
When the couple was last seen during the series finale of Season 8, Amy was heartbroken after breaking up with Sheldon. Sheldon, on the other hand, brought out an engagement ring that he had planned to propose to his long-time girlfriend.
In the past episodes of the show, Amy has opened up to close friends Penny and Bernadette to say that she had a very lonely childhood and did not have many friends to speak of. She was also an outcast and nerdy and just did not fit with her peers.
When she met Sheldon, her world has changed. She found in Sheldon a man who is quirky and less elegant just like her. So despite his goofy character and also of his friends, it was easy for Amy to fall for him because Sheldon was kind and quite lovable too.
Different intention for the ring
Actress Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler in “The Big Bang Theory,” says that Sheldon Cooper may have different intention for pulling out the ring shortly after Amy dumped him during the series finale of Season 8.
In a recent interview, the actress cautioned fans not to jump to conclusions about the real intention of Sheldon. She said that nobody knows what the story is with the ring that Sheldon pulled out after she broke up with him.
She added that nobody knows what Sheldon is planning to do with the ring. Nobody still knows if it was something he got from his mother or the process by which he got the ring and most especially what he intends to do with it, alluding that only Gollum knows about Sheldon’s original intention for the ring. When he was spurned by Amy, Sheldon began talking to the Gollum figurine on his desk before pulling out the ring.
Gollum, as everyone knows, is Smeagol, the fictional character from J.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” book and movie series.
Bialik says that viewers are just making assumptions on Sheldon’s true intention because it is super-exciting to do so. It also means that fans have followed the characters and love them so much that is why they are quite excited on what will happen next to the characters and their relationships.
