Last season, the odd pair went out on a few dates before telling each other how they really felt for one another. Despite the fact that the couple knows that they aren’t really quite a pair unlike Penny and Leonard or Sheldon and Amy, the fear of being alone is difficult and that is something Raj and Emily have to wrestle with in Season 9.
Molaro says that instead of taking a shot at being alone, Raj will push the idea further down and that might lead him to learn a lot from his failure.
As for Howard, Bernadette, and Stuart, Molaro dishes that the trio will have a storyline rolling at the forefront of Season 9. In a recent interview, the showrunner explains that Stuart will be the point of tension between Simon Helberg’s Howard and his wife Bernadette, played by Melissa Rauch.
Molaro says that for the married couple, Stuart is kind of like the border they can’t get rid of that easily. The pair is currently living in what used to be Howard’s childhood home while Bernadette would like to feel that she is part of it at the same time. She wants to make it feel like it’s their home. Stuart will enter the picture and be the point of pressure for the couple to move forward.
In the season premiere, Laurie Metcalf will reprise her role as Sheldon’s mother Mary while Keith Carradine will return during the third episode to portray Wyatt, Penny’s father. Meanwhile, Molaro also gave away details that they are already planning on weaving the new “Star Wars” plotlines into the season’s future episodes.
