The story of Sheldon and Amy has indeed become the front and center during the premiere episode of Season 9.
Showrunner Steve Molaro also disclosed days before the Season 9 premiere of “The Big Bang Theory” that the marriage between Penny and Leonard would certainly have a big impact on their friends, particularly on Sheldon, who is going through a rough patch after being spurned by Amy, minutes before proposing.
It would not be smooth sailing for the new marriage of the couple after Penny just learned that Leonard kissed another woman during his North Sea expedition two years ago.
Meanwhile, Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny in “The Big Bang Theory” is a newlywed in the TV series but she is actually separated from her husband Ryan Sweeting. In fact, the actress just filed for divorce recently, contradicting her small screen relationship with Leonard, which seems to keep getting stronger and stronger.
Although she is already separated from her husband and already filed to divorce him, Kaley Cuoco is still using Ryan’s surname, at least in the credits of “The Big Bang Theory.”
It is likely that the network is waiting for her divorce to be finalized before making any changes. However, it could also have simply been an oversight.
