The Season 9 finale of the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS will air on May 12 with the episode entitled “The Convergence-Convergence.”
The 24th and final episode of the sitcom shall feature Judd Hirsch as Leonard’s father Alfred. Christine Baranski, who play as Leonard’s mom Beverly, and who appeared in episode 22 shall also be back for the finale. This means that there will be plenty of bickerings from the estranged couple, having been long divorced.
Laurie Metcalf, who plays Sheldon’s mom Mary, shall also be around on episode 24 so she will certainly add to the mix in what appears to be a finale that has the elements of family onto it.
As expected, the episode shall bring forth chaos with the oldies around. There is also Wolowitz and Koothrappali who both think the government is out to get them when they are contacted by their guidance system.
Incidentally, “The Big Bang Theory” is heading to its Season 9 finale enjoying a 4.93 million viewership, which is way better than the two other hit TV series on CBS, “The Blacklist,” and “Empire,” which are averaging 4.17 million 4.16 million viewership, respectively, reports Zap2It.
Tension in the reunion
A promo released by CBS for the finale episode of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 showed Mary Cooper, Sheldon, Amy, Penny, and Beverly sitting in their apartment awkwardly as Sheldon was saying that it was nice.
The voice-over of the trailer also declared that the TV series shall have for the first time Leonard’s dad Alfred.
Alfred was also seen in the trailer calling Beverly as his hateful shrew, to which Beverly retorted and branded him as a wrinkled old bastard. Certainly, the reunion will be so funny especially when Sheldon suddenly says that he is starting to sense a little tension, details the International Business Times of UK.
Based also on a leaked report, Alfred and Mary will find something in common, which is going to be their hatred for Beverly.
In a different storyline, Penny and Leonard will decide to redo their wedding and they will even plan a family dinner. But as expected, all hell will break loose as the dinner would turn chaotic with the three oldies around.
The trailer also showed that Leonard’s father and Sheldon’s mother might hook up towards the end as the two friends were seen trying to contact them but to no use.
A reunion episode
Speaking of reunion, the 21st episode of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9, entitled “The Viewing Party Combustion” that aired on April 21 was one of those episodes that brought everyone together and just playing around with relationships built over the last nine years.
It was actually an ordinary episode about characters and relationships wrapped in a “Game of Thrones” wrapping.
The episode actually flexed the muscle of “The Big Bang Theory” as it allowed people who don’t usually get to share moments to play off to each other for once.
It delves into characters rather than go for the easy “Game of Thrones” references that could have filled the whole 20 minutes.
Episode 20 of “The Big Bang Theory” showed Sheldon’s uncontrolled blabbering causing married couple Leonard and Penny to fight.
Having been too drunk to his senses, Sheldon disclosed to Penny that Leonard has been keeping a secret bank account because his friend believes that Penny’s credit card debt was too much.
That surely riled up Penny and he confronted Leonard right way. As Leonard was attempting to pacify and control the emotions of his wife, Penny also confessed to her husband that she hates her job.
Because of what Sheldon did, Leonard, quite naturally, was still angry at him during the 21st episode that aired on April 28.
