‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 10 Premiere to Reveal What Happened to Leonard and Sheldon’s Parents!

The Season 9 finale of the American sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” that aired on CBS on May 12 ended in a cliffhanger when Judd Hirsch as Leonard’s father Alfred Hofstadter, and Sheldon’s mother Mary Cooper, played by Laurie Metcalf, seemingly eloped.

So when the Season 10 premieres on September 19, fans would know what really happened to Alfred and Mary and whether something romantic came out from their tryst.

Leonard’s mom Beverly, played by Christine Baranski, was also part of the chaos during the Season 9 finale but it has nothing to do with her getting jealous about the flings of Alfred since they have long been estranged and divorced.

Interestingly, Alfred and Beverly blew into town to attend the marriage of their son Leonard, played by Johnny Galecki, to Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco. It so happened that the mother of Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, was also invited to the wedding and there was where the bickering of the former couple began, resulting in chaos.

Executive producer Steve Molaro confirmed that the details of what really happened between Alfred and Mary will be revealed during the Season 10 premiere.

He said that the old couple just wanted to go out for a nightcap and unwind. But if they indeed end up eloping, then Sheldon and Leonard would eventually become half-brothers soon.

While it would sound good to their friends and fans of “The Big Bang Theory,” Molaro said that the two would most likely feel uncomfortable about it, notes the Ecumenical News.

Some things to expect in Season 10

In addition to what happened to Mary and Alfred following their nightcap, and Sheldon and Leonard becoming potential brothers, fans should also expect to see the family of Penny for the first time in the TV series.

Molaro confirmed in a recent interview that he is already getting excited to meet more family members of the show’s main cast members including Penny’s, reports the International Business Times of UK.

The showrunner also added that fans of ‘Shamy’ would be happy to know that Sheldon and Amy, played by Mayim Bialik, would possibly take their relationship to the next level in Season 10 of “The Big Bang Theory.”

There is also Bernadette’s pregnancy and the impending arrival of her and Howard’s little bundle of joy. Molaro said that the goal of the show is to make those kinds of changes and having Wolowitz and Bernadette pregnant is such a big step towards such direction, but just a manageable one.

Molaro said that he believes that the plotline does not set the show on fire but “The Big Bang Theory” clearly has a support system in place to show for it.

The last season of the sitcom?

Following the Season 9 finale of “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS last month, there have been reports going around that the upcoming Season 10 of the TV show might be its last.

According to the same reports, the main reason for the decision of the network to consider Season 10 as the last for “The Big Bang Theory” is the same as the decision of ABC more than 10 years ago to end the very popular sitcom “Friends.”

Reports have it that the three main stars of the show in Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco already command a $1 million salary per episode each, which made CBS do the math and weigh its options.

However, if everything would be up to Kaley Cuoco, she says that she does not want “The Big Bang Theory” to end after Season 10.

As it is, the only thing she knows that are expiring at the end of Season 10 are her contract with the show and that of fellow co-star Johnny Galecki.
