Things have been going quite well in “The Big Bang Theory”, and all of the show’s characters are in various good situations right now. Howard and Bernadette were the center of attention for the last episode though, as fans finally got to see her giving birth. Well, not directly, as that would probably have been a bit out of place for the show’s tone, but the general idea is the same.
As can be expected, the birth was surrounded by some hilarious moments involving all characters, particularly Sheldon who seemed quite out of his element in the maternity ward. He didn’t miss the opportunity to make some less than sensitive comments about the babies around him, although it didn’t look like any of the other characters were paying too much attention to his shenanigans at this point.
The birth went through without any complications, and thankfully the writers didn’t use the opportunity to make the show’s tone darker and more serious. There were some worried voices in the community claiming that this pregnancy is sure to end in disaster, and that the writers must be planning some difficult times for Howard and Bernadette.
Thankfully that wasn’t the case, and the characters were given the opportunity to go on with their lives in a happy new environment, surrounded by the support of everyone else around them. And now that little Halley is in the picture, the producers can bring the spotlight back on Sheldon, who seems to be planning some interesting moves with regards to Amy soon.
Her birthday is coming up, and it looks like Sheldon will put some effort into surprising her. Of course, Sheldon’s ideas of romance can be a bit untraditional compared to most people’s, and fans should prepare to see him performing some questionable acts to get Amy’s attention. Still, the preview for the episode did hint that Amy would actually be delighted and moved by his gesture, so we’re curious to see how this will all play out.
It wouldn’t be a story with Amy and Sheldon if something didn’t go slightly wrong between them as a result of Sheldon’s shenanigans though, and he will apparently find a way to annoy his girlfriend quite significantly in his attempts to surprise her for her birthday.
Amy isn’t going to respond lightly to that either, and we’re curious to see whether this will have any more serious implications on their relationship later on. Still, the two of them have gone through so much together that it’s probably not very realistic to expect that something so comparatively tiny is going to be a serious problem.
Plus, it wouldn’t make much sense for the writers to drive a spike between them right now anyway, not after getting them back together after their breakup. Fans were already distraught enough when that originally happened, and we can’t imagine seeing the community go through the same ordeal all over again. The writers should be well aware of that fact as well though, which is why we don’t expect anything bad to happen between Sheldon and Amy anytime soon.
Other than that, the writers have been trying to pay equal attention to all of the show’s characters in recent episodes, and they’ve been handling that more or less fine. Of course, the culmination of Bernadette’s pregnancy was guaranteed to steal the spotlight for a while, but nobody was really surprised by that, nor did any fans seem to mind.
