Fans of “The Big Bang Theory” have been quite anxious about the future of the show lately, after a major event occurred at the end of the last season which significantly altered the situations of some characters. Sheldon in particular was left heartbroken after his girlfriend Amy broke up with him out of the blue, explaining that their relationship had started to put too much of a strain on her life and she needed a break.
And or course, Sheldon definitely didn’t find it easy to get over his loss, and in fact things got quite difficult for him afterwards. At the same time, he was visibly determined to get Amy back and to not let things get even worse, and now we’re finally starting to see the results of his plans/efforts. An upcoming episode of the show will have the two of them sharing a visibly passionate kiss, and at this point it’s obvious that there is likely going to be a major reunion between the two of them sooner or later.
Whether or not this means that their relationship is going to return to the exact same state as before is difficult to say, and they are both characters with extremely peculiar personalities, to the point where it’s difficult to make any realistic predictions about what they might choose to do. According to some fans, there could actually be some new developments between the two that will push their relationship even further and bring them closer together.
That would actually be a logical way to continue the story right now, as something rather major definitely has to happen between Sheldon and Amy after they’ve reached this point. The writers most definitely did not set the two of them up for a breakup only to have things return to normal in a couple of episodes, and this incident will be used to push the story forward in some ways. Whether or not it will be for the good of Sheldon though, that’s a different story.
Some have the opinion that the whole situation with Sheldon actually has one primary purpose – to build up his own character. We’ve already seen Sheldon developed quite a bit through the series and he’s been shown to have quite the complex personality, but or course there is always more that the producers could show about him, and a breakup is probably one of the most powerful tools to expose the deeper parts of his personality and truly show what makes Sheldon tick.
Because of this, it’s entirely possible that in the long run, the two might stay separated, but not before going through a phase of reconciliation that explores parts of their personalities. This is pure speculation – and we’ve actually already heard claims that the relationship between the two characters is going to return to its original strong levels eventually – but it would definitely be a good way to add some extra layers of complexity to both personalities.
It’s also been revealed that we are going to see Sheldon and Amy finally having sex, something which the show’s fans have been asking to happen for quite a long time. This could further indicate that they are getting back together for good, but it’s no guarantee of course. In any case, it would be interesting to see where their relationship goes and how they could improve their experience with each other over the next few episodes, getting even more intimate.
