What’s the Jennings are up to

Season 5 of “The Americans” shall reportedly have a time jump from the Season 4 finale and it would likely reveal what the Jennings have been up to, on whether they have decided to stay in America or go back to Russia as their spy covers were about to be blown.

Back in Season 4, the FBI was able to capture the Jennings’ asset William, played by Dylan Baker, but did not squeal on Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, played by real-life couple Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell, despite being under duress.

The showrunners also revealed during the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Season 5 of “The Americans” shall focus also on the storyline of ex-FBI secretary Martha, played by Alison Wright.

It would somehow be discovered in the upcoming season that Martha is still not dead and the show shall be focusing on what she has been up to and why she has gone missing in action.

Sometime in Season 4, Paige Jennings, played by Holly Taylor, learned that her parents are KGB posing as Americans.

It would be interesting how her life will change especially with regards to her ongoing fling with the son of an FBI agent who lives next door to them.

In addition to Paige, the Jennings son Henry, played by Keidrich Sellati, also learned the secret of his parents during the Season 4 finale so Season 5 would give focus on him and how he handles the truth about his parents’ secret responsibilities.

There are speculations saying that the Jennings couple might become double agents in the upcoming season of “The Americans” in order to save their necks and protect their children but the showrunners have not confirmed or denied such plot as of this time.

While FX has not made any official announcement regarding the airing date of “The Americans” Season 5, the consensus of the rumors is that it would air in the spring of next year, notes the Premiere Date.
