The 2015 Toyota Hilux Promises to Setup Benchmarks for Future-Generation Pickup Trucks!

Toyota is one of the leading car manufacturers in the world today, and the 2015 Hilux is a highly anticipated vehicle. Its predecessors are trusted and reputed for being ‘hardass’ pickups, since 1968. The present generation model is the seventh in line, and Toyota is all se to roll out the 2015 variant.

Major changes have been carried out to this vehicle, although, the extent of the details are yet to reach public eyes. The 2015 Toyota Hilux was spotted recently during testing in Southern Europe while the makers are using the Volkswagen Amarok as a benchmark.

The rendering of the 2015 Hilux has been floating around the internet for a while now, and it was nice to see that the pre-production version looks similar to the CGI edition. If Toyota plans on continuing with this design on the production variant, we are looking at a very promising design indeed.

Some of the highlighted features of the vehicle include the sharp headlamps, upright slanting grille up front, large fog lamps, new front bumper and bold lines along the body line, aiding aerodynamics.

However, none of these is over the top, as they are perfectly balanced. The front-end, for example, resembles a luxury sedan more than a truck, like its present generation cousins. Minor design cues have been lifted from the Kluger SUV as well. The 2015 Toyota Hilux is visibly longer and wider than the current generation model, although, the official dynamics are yet to reach us.

Toyota plans to compete with the likes of the Mazda BT50 and the Ford Ranger in its class. Hence, they are leaving no stone unturned in their endeavor to design a vehicle to their fullest. Striking similarities can also be found with the Volkswagen Amarok.

Even though Toyota is yet to announce the exact engine specifications for the 2015 Hilux, experts believe that the vehicle draws power from a four-cylinder V6 engine block. However, a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine is quite unlikely at the moment.

Toyota could also consider a hybrid alternative, as customers are getting more budget conscious each day, if not environment conscious. This is interesting from the strategic point of view as well, as many of the competing brands are developing hybrid options of their own.

2015 Toyota Hilux

The present generation Toyota Hilux is known for being strong, dependent and reliable on multiple counts. It will not fail you. Toyota has come a long way since their early vehicles, which were deemed unreliable. Hence, there are no major reasons for concern, as the 2015 Hilux has been purpose built.

  1. The new Hilux needs a v6 turbo diesel and 6-7 speed auto. The Nissan has this and is going away from it in the new model, bad move I say. I would buy a Amarok but the motor is to small. The new Nissan Navara motor will be to small also. So the Hilux will do well to have a v6 diesel

  2. Hilux will dominate, it survived all the new vehicles that has come out in the last couple of years. South Africa is Hilux country

  3. Hilux needs a 6 speed manual transmission and has to beat ford ranger by having a 3.5 litre turbo diesel right now Toyota is 3 litre and ford ranger is 3.2 litre petrol hilux isn’t really good on loads goes fast but cant do the work you want

  4. Toyota hilux should have a bigger engine than all of the pick trucks to be the best pick up truck in the market because right now i would buy ford ranger way more luxury and also has a bigger engine
