The 2015 Honda Civic Type R Rumored to Make it Onto American Shores, Enthusiasts Overwhelmed

The 2015 Honda Civic Type R has been drawing a lot of attention globally ever since the Japanese firm announced that the upcoming model will be the most extreme till date. Honda has however launched the vehicle only in Europe, and the auto enthusiasts have spent many a sleepless night trying to get their hands on the Type-R.

Honda had a strict ‘for your eyes only’ policy in America as a Type R prototype was brought solely for viewing and test drives were unavailable. However, we have reasons to believe that all of that might change soon, much to the relief of the Americans! A report published by a Spanish auto magazine suggests that Honda might be planning to bring the 2015 Civic Type R to the American shore.

Initial reports suggest that Honda plans on getting the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to America, producing between 276 and 320 BHP and it is safe to assume that they will feature upgraded suspension, performance components and rolling stock specially suited to the terrain.

Honda offers the Civic as a hot hatch in Europe, although, in America the vehicle is available as a sedan and coupe only. Hence, Honda is most likely to offer something unique to the American customers in the form of the Type R. Another popular word around the market suggests that the 2015 Civic Type R is Honda’s way of replacing the CR-Z. Hence, the customers get to pick from a wide array of options.

When the people at Honda were asked about the introduction of a turbocharged or supercharged engine block, the employees failed to come up with a definitive answer. Supercharged or turbocharged engine blocks are known to offer greater power along with additional fuel economy over naturally aspirated engine blocks. However, their life expectancy is nowhere close to the latter.

Initial renderings prove that the 2015 Honda Civic Type R will retain its muscular structure, much like its present generation cousin. Details on the interior are yet to be revealed, although, we are expecting something similar to the Civic Si. However, unlike the CR-Z Hybrid, a Civic Type R Hybrid is unlikely to arrive anytime soon, not that we are saying that it is impossible.
