While there’s still a lot of time to go until “Thor 3” is released, with two more years of production left according to what’s known about the current plans, it seems like the wait will at least be worth it, as the film’s producers have been putting a lot of effort into the newest installment of the franchise, and if recent leaks are to be believed, the new film could see some dramatic twists in the plot that may leave some fans shocked.
According to a reddit user, the film’s writers will probably try to take things as far as they possibly can in this newest installment, which could have some very dramatic implications for the storyline of the film. If the film is indeed the last chapter in the saga about Thor, then its story has a pretty big potential for interesting twists. Kevin Feige has previously stated that this film alone could have some very serious implications for the entire Marvel Universe, which can have many different interpretations, but some possibilities seem stronger than others.
Thanos might finally come to Asgard, perhaps after being invited by Loki, or even by force. And if Loki doesn’t try to do anything with the Cube, Thanos will arrive looking for it, which is when he could discover The Infinity Gauntlet. It’s an interesting theory altogether, even if it has some minor discrepancies with the canon that some readers of reddit have pointed out. It’s still higher quality writing than the majority of fan theories that come out surrounding “Thor 3”, that’s for sure.
Of course, all of this is just speculation based on keen observations about the franchise’s current state. However, it seemed to inspire a lot of in-depth discussion, with another user claiming that Thor might end up dying by Thanos during the quest for the Gauntlet. Little is known about Thanos at this point, but he’s still seen as a potentially very strong force against the Avengers, so he could have lots of tricks up his sleeve.
When exactly is Thor going to die though? According to the reddit thread, the character will still make an appearance in “The Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1”. Chris Hemsworth has signed a contract for three Thor movies and three Avengers ones, and “Age of Ultron” is only going to be the second movie about Thor, so there has to be another one. Of course, there could be something more special and unusual planned, such as a prequel or something else that would still make the possibility of Thor dying plausible, but so far, the studio’s plans seem to be quite unclear to the public.
