Tetsuya Nomura Talks about His Dark Side While Creating Kingdom Hearts 3, the Game Still Has No Release Date!

Kingdom Hearts 3, the brainchild of Disney’s collaboration with Square Enix, is confirmed to be in the developmental stages. The announcement was made during last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. However, a release date has still not been announced. In this title, we will see Sora return as the main protagonist of the game.

Furthermore, Riku, Goofy, Donald Duck, King Mickey and many other awesome Disney characters will be featured in the upcoming title. The story of Kingdom Hearts 3 serves as a follow-up from the epic story of ‘Dream Drop Distance’ and will possibly serve as the final chapter in the ‘Dark Seeker’ Saga.

Square Enix made an announcement regarding the game around a year back and since then the release of new updates or information regarding it has been quite scarce.

It was earlier announced that the game would be designed on the proprietary Luminous Engine, developed by Square Enix. However, it was recently declared that the development platform has been switched to the more traditional Unreal Engine 4. This change served as a setback in the developmental stages of the game, but for now, it seems like Nomura has all things safely back on track.

The release date is still unknown but according to certain speculations, Kingdom Hearts 3 will probably launch during the end of 2015. Rumors are also circulating about the introduction of a new character from Disney’s latest film, ‘Frozen’. Kingdom Hearts 3 is a much-anticipated title, which will serve as the eighth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series.

It will also be the first title to be featured on the Microsoft gaming platform. Although much information has not yet been released, director Tetsuya Nomura talked about the creative experience and challenges that his team at Square Enix faced along with him.

Tetsuya declared that he considers himself to be more on the dark side like Xehanort and Co. in the Kingdom Hearts series. He channels the burning anger in his heart into whatever he creates. The current development process of Kingdom Hearts 3 surely bursts out in such a sense.

He explained briefly that the battle in Kingdom Hearts will last a lot longer. For the upcoming title, he has designed many challenges and hurdles that Sora and Co. need to overcome. He doesn’t wish to lose it all at this stage. Tetsuya Nomura finally declared that he had a rather explosive mindset when he designed the first Kingdom Hearts game and the idea has come together quite well.
