One potential benefit from the recently opened Powerpack 2 is that it could drive the industry to decommission even more power plants in the future and repurpose them in a similar way. This seems to be a winning trend for many reasons, and Tesla have made it clear that it can be done very well with the right approach.
Of course, some have argued that Tesla are in a unique position when it comes to the power market, and it’s not that easy to compare the company to other players on the market, even major ones. It’s still important to point out that Tesla can drive the market towards progress with their own developments though, and their unique position may soon not be that unique anymore.
Which would actually be a great thing for both Tesla as well as their competitors. More competition always means great things for the market as a whole, and that includes consumers.
Who knows, perhaps in 5-10 years we will have completely forgotten about the concept of regular old fuel-powered cars, and we’ll all be looking forward towards a new future with electric vehicles. It’s a bright outlook that brings an optimistic smile to many people’s faces, so let’s see if things will really move in that direction. Developments like the activation of the Powerpack 2 are definitely a step in the right way, and we’re hopeful to see even more of them in this year.
