Tesla Model X Allegedly Scheduled for Q3 2015 Release!

A lot of people are expecting the new Tesla Model X, as the car is going to bring a small revolution to the electric vehicle market, and should definitely be in the news for quite a while after it’s released. Whether or not that will be in a positive light, we can’t tell yet – but so far, the car is shaping up to be quite interesting indeed, and should score some positive reviews if Tesla play all their cards right.

The biggest question right now remains about the release date of the car – when exactly are we going to see the new Model X? According to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, the company doesn’t yet have any official information to release about the model. But that’s just on the public, official front – according to sources allegedly close to the company, Tesla already have a specific launch date in mind.

Apparently, they’re aiming for a release in the third quarter of this year, which would put the car’s arrival to the market sometime between July and September. July is almost over, so that doesn’t leave too much time for the company to make the release, so if that rumor is true, we should start hearing something about it on the official front soon.

Tesla are supposed to be holding a conference this Friday at 11 am PST, and it’s been rumored that this will be the official announcement of the release date. It hasn’t been confirmed yet that this conference will actually have anything to do with the Model X, but considering that this has been the top priority of the company lately, we don’t see many other possibilities.

Tesla’s official website still claims that those who’ve preordered the Model X will begin receiving their cars in the beginning of 2016, so it does seem likely that we’re going to get the official release date announced at the upcoming conference.

We don’t know how much Tesla will charge for the new model, but it’s expected to have a competitive position in the market, as they are aggressively trying to establish a prominent name for themselves. Not that they need to put too much effort into that, as the company is already known for being one of the best players on the electric vehicle market.

So far, the most an interested buyer can do is to put down $5,000 as a reservation fee, and this will secure one of the models for them – but the actual price hasn’t been revealed yet. Still, we expect the price to be close to that of the Model S, while the Model S itself will likely get a price reduction at the same time.

For the Model S, the company has a roughly $10,000 difference between the 60 kW and the 85 kW models, with the more expensive one costing just under $80,000, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Model X was placed in more or less the same spot along the pricing curve.

All of this is just speculation of course, and as we said above, Tesla are expected to give official information about the car at their upcoming press conference, so those who’re interested in finding out what the Model X is going to offer for them should pay attention this Friday. It may turn out that the conference is about something else entirely, but there isn’t really much else for Tesla to be talking about right now. Plus, they are definitely aware of the hype surrounding this event.
