That’s been the main idea of their plan from the very start, and even though it’s worked out fine so far, it remains to be seen how things will play out with the Model 3 and beyond it.
But there is about half a year left to go until we see that, as Tesla are aiming to release the Model 3 around the end of 2017. That also gives them plenty of time to advertise the various special features of the car, so we expect that the new glass may not be the only thing we hear about.
We certainly expect to hear more about the performance and power utilization of the car at some point during next year, and this is one of the most important features in the eyes of most of Tesla’s fans, and something they want to see specifically addressed in announcements.
The company most definitely realizes that, and it’s not coincidental that they’ve been less eager to share details in this regard. It would be smart of them to wait a little more and finalize the technical design of the car, making sure that they have the right numbers, and only then approach the market and make a solid announcement. Elon Musk has shown that he knows how to work with his audience though, so we trust that he’ll handle that properly.
